India and GCC Sign ToR for Free Trade Agreement

India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) signed Terms of Reference (ToR) for negotiations on a proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The ceremony took place at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, with officials Ajay Bhadoo and Dr. Raja Al Marzouqi as chief negotiators. Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of State Jitin Prasada, and Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal attended. The ToR will guide the scope, structure and modalities of talks, formally initiating discussions toward a broad trade pact aimed at expanding economic ties and reducing barriers across sectors.

UPSC Launches Tech Interventions for CSE and IFoS

Yuva Sahakar and Swayam Shakti Sahakar Schemes Roll Out Through NCDC

Amit Shah to launch Bharat Taxi, a cooperative-based ride-hailing platform

Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will launch Bharat Taxi, India’s first cooperative-based ride-hailing platform, in New Delhi. The platform places drivers, called Sarathis, at the core of ownership, operations, and value creation, and operates on a zero-commission and surge-free pricing model. Profits will be distributed directly to drivers, with social security measures such as health and accident insurance, retirement savings, and a driver-support system. The initiative includes the Bike Didi program, which has enrolled over 150 women drivers. ACC approves M Anitha's appointment as Director in Defence Department under Central Staffing Scheme

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of M Anitha, IRS (Income Tax: 2007), as Director in the Department of Defence under the Central Staffing Scheme. The decision follows a Civil Services Board (CSB) recommendation and involves a lateral shift from the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), where she currently serves as Director. The appointment will take effect from the date she assumes charge of the post. As per the order, Anitha will serve in the Department of Defence for a tenure up to 26 September 2026, aligning with the remaining period of her five-year deputation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

IHMCL and NFSU sign MoU to strengthen cyber forensics for highways

Adampur renamed Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport; Halwara civil terminal inaugurated

On 2 February 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi renamed Adampur Airport in Jalandhar as Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport and virtually inaugurated a new civil terminal at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana. The twin announcements combine cultural recognition with infrastructure development, strengthening regional air connectivity under the UDAN scheme and fulfilling long-standing public and political demands in Punjab. The renaming honors Sant Guru Ravidas Ji, whose teachings promote equality and dignity in Indian society. The Halwara terminal expands aviation capacity for the region, supporting Ludhiana’s industrial and agricultural hinterlands and facilitating better air access across Punjab. These steps reflect the government’s development focus for the state.

IMMA to Host 6th National Crop Nutrition Summit 2026 in Mumbai

India's agri-input sector will be spotlighted as the Indian Micro-Fertilizers Manufacturers Association (IMMA) hosts its 6th National Crop Nutrition Summit & B2B Expo on 5–6 February 2026 at the National Stock Exchange building, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai.
