  • Hours after quitting, Lecornu accepted a request from French President Emmanuel Macron to work on a plan for the stability for the country.

The 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York

  • Lok Sabha MP P.P. Chaudhary is leading the first of two non-official delegations of Indian MPs to the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
  • Two groups of 15 Members of Parliament each will travel to New York in October. The first group, headed by Chaudhary, is visiting from October 8 to 14, while the second batch of MPs will go later this month.
  • The initiative marks a revival of India's parliamentary participation at the UNGA, nearly two decades after the practice was discontinued in 2004. The delegation underlines India's renewed commitment to parliamentary diplomacy, ensuring that legislators once again have a role in global conversations at the UN - the world's premier multilateral forum.

Poland's Link with Strategic NATO Fuel Pipeline to cost $5.5 billion

  • Poland will join NATO's fuel pipeline network in 2025, marking a major step in its military infrastructure. This move comes amid growing tensions on NATO's eastern border and ongoing security concerns in the region. Poland's integration into the alliance's pipeline system will enhance fuel supply security for its forces and those of NATO near Russia and Belarus.
  • NATO operates a 10,000-kilometre network of pipelines across Europe. These pipelines supply fuel and lubricants for military vehicles and aircraft. The system was created during the Cold War when Poland was part of the Warsaw Pact. Consequently, NATO's fuel pipelines did not extend to Polish bases near the eastern frontier.
