Mahindra Group, Embraer Ink Pact to Offer C-390 Millennium Aircraft to IAF

  • Brazilian aerospace major Embraer Defense & Security and India's Mahindra Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly offer the C-390 Millennium for the Indian Air Force's Medium Transport Aircraft programme. The deal aims to establish local manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance capabilities for the aircraft in India.
  • The agreement expands on a memorandum of understanding signed in February 2024, which outlined initial cooperation between the two companies. The new pact takes the collaboration further by defining roles in marketing, industrialisation and supply-chain development. Both firms will work closely with India's defence establishment and private aerospace ecosystem to identify potential partners for production and maintenance.

  • Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the third Production Line of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk1A and the second Production Line of Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40 (HTT-40) at the Nashik facility of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). He also flagged-off the first LCA Mk1A produced at the facility.
  • Raksha Mantri described the flight of the state-of-the-art aircraft as a shining symbol of India's growing Aatmanirbharta in defence. He highlighted the transformation of the defence sector in the last decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he asserted that the country, which once imported 65-70% of critical military hardware, is now manufacturing 65% of the equipment on its own soil. He voiced the Government's resolve of increasing domestic manufacturing to 100% in the times to come.

Indian Navy Leads 'Prasthan' Multi-agency Drill Off Kakinada Coast

  • The bi-annual multi-agency coordinated exercise - 'Prasthan' concluded on October 16 by Indian Navy in the Eastern Offshore Development Area off Kakinada. The exercise conducted under the aegis of Eastern Naval Command (ENC), witnessed active participation from the Indian Coast Guard, ONGC, Offshore Defence Advisory Group (ODAG), Intelligence Bureau, Marine Police, the State Fisheries Department and private operators like RIL, Vedanta and others.
  • The exercise is conducted at regular intervals to validate measures and procedures to respond effectively to various contingencies that may arise onboard offshore installations, including oil production platforms and support vessels. The current edition of 'Prasthan' was conducted onboard the RIL platform 'KG D6 Ruby' and the 'RG' fixed platform with deployment of six Indian Naval ships and two helicopters, an Indian Coast Guard ship, MARCOs teams and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialists.

Rajnath Singh, Yogi Adityanath Flag off First Batch of BrahMos Missiles Manufactured in Lucknow

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace unit in Lucknow's Sarojini Nagar.
  • BrahMos Aerospace, the manufacturer of the "BrahMos" supersonic missile system, has successfully produced the first batch of the missile system from its new Integration and Test Facility in Lucknow. This state-of-the-art unit became fully operational after its inauguration on May 11, 2025. It houses all modern facilities for missile integration, testing, and final quality checks. After successful testing, the missiles are prepared for deployment by the Indian Armed Forces.

DRDO's Combat Parachute System Tested at 32,000 Feet

  • In a milestone for India's indigenous defence capabilities, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested the Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS) from an altitude of 32,000 feet. The test was conducted by Indian Air Force paratroopers, marking the highest deployment for a made-in-India combat parachute system.
  • The Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS) is now the only operational parachute system in India capable of safe and controlled deployment above 25,000 feet.
  • It is developed jointly by Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE), Agra and Defence Bioengineering and Electromedical Laboratory (DEBEL), Bengaluru.

The 5th Samudra Shakti Naval Exercise between India and Indonesia

  • Continuing their strategic defence cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, the Indian Navy (IN) and the Indonesian Navy concluded the 5th edition of the bilateral maritime exercise "Samudra Shakti 2025" on October 17, 2025, in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The joint exercise highlighted the growing maritime partnership between the two nations. Samudra Shakti, first held in 2018 under India's Act East Policy, aims to deepen operational synergy and shared maritime interests in the region.
  • Like its previous editions, Samudra Shakti 2025 was divided into two distinct phases designed to combine diplomacy, professional exchange, and tactical readiness.

India, South Korea Launch First-ever Bilateral Naval Exercise

  • The first-ever India–South Korea bilateral naval exercise is underway at Busan Naval Base, in Korea marking a significant milestone in the growing maritime partnership between New Delhi and Seoul. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sahyadri, an indigenously built stealth frigate, is at Busan participating in the exercise alongside the Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN) ship Gyeongnam.

Indian Navy Hosts Seminar on Cyber Threats to Maritime Security

  • The Indian Navy organised a seminar on the Impact of Cyber Attacks on the Maritime Sector and Its Effects on National Security and International Relations in New Delhi. The seminar aimed to deepen understanding of cyber threats in the maritime domain and foster collaboration amongst key stakeholders to enhance cybersecurity and strengthen the national cybersecurity posture. Minister of State for the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada delivered the Keynote Address during the inaugural session.
  • The seminar aimed to advance Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across the Regions- MAHASAGAR by reinforcing a safe, secure cyberspace, and echoes the call for Aatmanirbhar Bharat through indigenous, secure-by-design digital systems and robust public-private partnership. Aligned with Maritime India Vision 2030 and the Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, the seminar positions cybersecurity as a core enabler of port-led growth, smart logistics, offshore energy security, and mission-critical naval operations.

IAF Conducts Joint Exercise With U.K.'s Carrier Strike Group in Indian Ocean

  • The Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out a high-intensity joint exercise with the United Kingdom's Carrier Strike Group (CSG) over the Indian Ocean Region in October 2025.
  • The drill featured IAF Sukhoi-30 MKIs, Jaguars, AWACS, and AEW&C aircraft operating alongside Royal Navy F-35B fighter jets from HMS Prince of Wales.
