Senior Advocate Vivek Subba Reddy Re-Elected As President of Advocates' Association Bengaluru
Senior Advocate Vivek Subba Reddy was re-elected as the President of the Advocates' Association, Bengaluru (AAB) for the second consecutive term. Reddy secured a record-breaking 6,820 votes, defeating former AAB President Ranganath AP, who garnered 4,518 votes. Other candidates included Rajanna R (1,473 votes), Nanjappa Kalegowda (123 votes), Ravi T G (378 votes), and Rajashekhara TA (90 votes).
Girish Kumar CS was elected as Vice President with 5,060 votes, defeating CR Gowda who secured 3,128 votes. Praveen Gowda HV became the General Secretary after receiving 4,854 votes, surpassing Harisha MT with 3,728 votes. Shwetha Ravishankar won the Treasurer position with 2,950 votes in a competitive election reserved for women.

Central government notified the appointment of following three Additional Judges of the Telangana High Court as permanent Judges: Justice Laxmi Narayana Alishetty, Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti, and Justice Sujana Kalasikam.
The Supreme Court Collegium had made a recommendation in this regard in its meeting held on February 5, 2025.
Justice Laxmi Narayana Alishetty, Justice Anilkukumar Jukanti, and Justice Sujana Kalasikam were appointed as Additional Judges of the Telangana High Court on July 31, 2023.

SC Collegium Approves Appointment of five Additional Judges as Permanent
The Supreme Court collegium approved the proposal for appointment of five additional judges of the High Courts of Madras and Telangana as permanent judges.
the following additional judges were appointed as permanent judges in the Madras High Court -- Justice Venkatachari Lakshminarayanan and Justice Periyasamy Vadamalai.
The collegium also approved the proposal for appointment of additional judges -- Justice Laxmi Narayana Alishetty, Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti and Justice Sujana Kalasikam -- as permanent judges in the Telangana High Court.

Kashmir Advocates Association Moves Supreme Court for Establishment of Bar Council for J&K
The Kashmir Advocates Association approached the Supreme Court seeking establishment of a bar council for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
A Bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta sought the responses of the Central government and the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court to the plea.
Currently, there is no bar council for J&K and lawyers take the membership of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association.
Supreme Court Justice Hrishikesh Roy Retires
Supreme Court judge Justice Hrishikesh Roy retired from office after a tenure of over 5 years at the top court.
Justice Roy obtained his LL.B Degree from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi in 1982. He initially practiced at the Supreme Court before shifting to the Gauhati High Court. He was designated as Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court in 2004.
He was appointed an additional judge of the Gauhati High Court in October 2006 and was made a permanent judge in 2008.
He was appointed as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court in August 2018 before being elevated to the Supreme Court on September 23, 2019.
