Sikkim's Kagyed Dance Festival

The Kagyed Chaam Dance Festival, one of Sikkim's most revered Buddhist celebrations, is held annually at Tsuklakhang Palace in Gangtok. Marked by elaborate masked dances performed by Buddhist monks and lamas, the festival symbolises the destruction of negative forces and the ushering in of peace and prosperity for the New Year. Sauraha Hosts 18th Elephant Festival

Nestled in Sauraha, Chitwan, Nepal, the 18th Elephant and Tourism Festival captivated both local and international visitors. Hosted at the Baghmara Intermediate Community Forest near the renowned Chitwan National Park, this five-day event aligned with New Year and Christmas celebrations. The festival concluded on December 30, serving as a vital driver for tourism in the region with its diverse and unique attractions.

Tansen Samaroh 2024

The 100th edition of the Tansen Sangeet Samaroh, one of India's most celebrated classical music festivals, concluded with grandeur in Gwalior. Organised by Madhya Pradesh's Culture Department, the festival honoured eminent tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri with the Rashtriya Tansen Samman 2023 and Indore-based Sanand Nyas Sanstha with the Raja Mansingh Tomar Samman 2023.
Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, a Padma Shri recipient and tabla virtuoso from Kolkata, received the festival's highest honour. Instituted in 1980, the award includes a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh and a citation plaque.

PETA Urges Nepal to Stop Animal Slaughter during Gadhimai Festival

People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India called on the neighbouring country's Prime Minister, K. P. Sharma Oli, to take decisive action and halt mass slaughter of animals during the Gadhimai Festival held in December 2024.
Celebrated every five years, this year's (2024) edition took place at the Gadhimai Temple in Bara District, Nepal. The festival, famous for animal sacrifice, is one of the largest and most controversial slaughter events. It ranks as one of the world's largest animal sacrifice festivals, drawing thousands of devotees from Nepal, India, and beyond.

Vice President Dhankhar Inaugurates GSI Geoscience Museum in Gwalior

The Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, inaugurated the state-of-the-art Geological Survey of India (GSI) Geoscience Museum at the Victoria Market Building in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh by ribbon cutting and unveiling of the plaque. The event marked a remarkable celebration, seamlessly blending the grandeur of tradition with the marvels of modern innovation.
The Gwalior Geoscience Museum serves as a gateway to the wonders of Earth's story—a sanctuary of knowledge where science and art converge to inspire curiosity. It houses two exceptional galleries, offering a glimpse into the mysteries of our planet and the chronicles of life's journey through time.
Gallery I, titled Planet Earth: Its Uniqueness in Diversity, showcases Earth's marvels across seven sections, highlighting phenomena such as volcanoes, meteorites, and magnetic fields. With cutting-edge multimedia displays, interactive models, digital storyboards, and rare geological specimens, this gallery transforms into a vibrant platform where science comes alive. It features extraordinary treasures, including Antarctic rocks, rare gemstones, volcanic rocks from Japan, Himalayan fossils, Deccan Trap zeolites, dimensional stones, and dinosaur eggs, making it a rich feast for both intellect and imagination.
Gallery II, titled Evolution of Life on Earth, chronicles the epic story of life, tracing its origins to the rise of Homo sapiens. Through seven meticulously designed sections, visitors explore ancient ecosystems, the process of evolution, and mass extinction events. Fossils and immersive exhibits foster scientific curiosity, offering a deeper understanding of our past and a vision for the future.
