BBC Chief Tim Davie Resigns After Row Over Trump Documentary

Tim Davie, the director general of the BBC, announced his resignation following a row over the editing of a documentary about US President Donald Trump. Davie and the broadcaster's head of news, Deborah Turness, resigned after accusations that a documentary by its flagship Panorama programme had edited a speech by Trump in a misleading way.

US to Boycott G20 in South Africa

President Donald Trump said that no US government officials would be attending the Group of 20 summit this year in South Africa (from 22 to 23 November 2025), citing the country's treatment of white farmers.
Trump had already announced he would not attend the annual summit for heads of state from the globe's leading and emerging economies.

World's Oldest President Sworn in for Eighth Term in Cameroon

Cameroon's Paul Biya, the world's oldest ruler, was sworn in for an eighth term as President following a disputed election that triggered deadly protests.
In his inauguration speech, he pledged to restore order to the central African nation and blamed irresponsible politicians and the diaspora for inciting unrest.
Biya was named winner of the election by a comfortable margin, with 53.66% of the vote against 35.19% for opposition leader Issa Tchiroma Bakary, according to the official results.

Peru Cuts Diplomatic Ties with Mexico

Peru cut off diplomatic ties with Mexico following Mexico's decision to grant asylum to former Peruvian Prime Minister Betssy Chávez. Chávez is facing charges related to the 2022 coup attempt led by former President Pedro Castillo. Peru's Foreign Minister Hugo de Zela described Mexico's move as an unfriendly act and cited repeated interference by Mexican leaders in Peru's internal affairs. The crisis marks a new low in relations between the two nations, already strained since Castillo's ouster and arrest in December 2022 after his failed attempt to dissolve Congress.
