NITI Aayog Launches Central Prabhari Officer Portal

NITI Aayog formally launched the Central Prabhari Officer (CPO) Portal in a virtual event, with participation from central and state officials. The portal enables real-time submission and tracking of field observations, ensuring ground insights inform policy action and administrative intervention. Central Prabhari Officers can submit observations via mobile, with data going live for Districts, State Planning Secretaries, and relevant ministries to monitor responses. The platform links field inputs with policy action, promoting accountability and faster delivery in Aspirational Districts and Blocks. Officials expect improved governance efficiency and cross‑department coordination through this unified digital interface.

DST Signs Pact to Boost Indigenous Type-IV CNG Cylinder Manufacturing

The Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has signed an agreement with Delhi‑based NTF Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd to set up a manufacturing facility to commercialise indigenous Type-IV composite CNG cylinders. The project supports India’s clean mobility and domestic manufacturing goals by using locally available raw materials and advanced production processes. TDB’s backing reflects the government’s commitment to next‑generation technologies that strengthen sustainable transportation and energy security under the Atmanirbhar Bharat framework. The facility is expected to reduce imports and build a resilient, cost‑competitive clean‑energy supply chain.

JANANI Digital Platform launched to strengthen maternal and child health

JANANI (Journey of Antenatal, Natal and Neonatal Integrated Care) is a digital platform launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to strengthen maternal and child healthcare in India. The system will maintain and monitor health records of women and children through pregnancy, birth and early childhood, enabling continuous care across hospitals and community workers. JANANI aims to improve accessibility, continuity of care and coordination among healthcare workers, government facilities and beneficiaries, reducing fragmentation when records are missing. The platform will integrate with existing schemes and digital health initiatives to streamline screening, immunization, and follow-up visits. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on 10-11 May 2026 to participate in the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav.

Nagaland signs MoA with Tata Motors to procure 43 buses

The Nagaland government signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Tata Motors to procure 43 buses for the Nagaland State Transport (NST). Delivery is expected within three months, boosting fleet capacity and extending service coverage in urban and rural areas. Officials anticipate improved passenger safety, comfort and reliability, along with strengthened last-mile connectivity. NCERT rolls out PRASHAST 2.0 for early disability screening in schools

New Delhi: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) introduced PRASHAST 2.0, a digital Pre-Assessment Holistic Screening Tool for early identification of disabilities in schoolchildren. Upgraded from PRASHAST 1.0, the platform is available on mobile and web and screens for 21 disability types defined under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. The tool supports teachers, principals and special educators by enabling timely interventions, educational adjustments and access to government support schemes. Through integration with the Samagra Shiksha program, PRASHAST 2.0 aims to ensure inclusive education by addressing learning and developmental challenges early. Education officials will train educators to use the tool and monitor progress via dashboards.

Union Health Ministry launches national framework for childhood diabetes care

The Union Health Ministry released a comprehensive framework for managing childhood diabetes, announced at a national health summit. The plan centers on universal screening, early diagnosis, treatment, and long-term care for children from birth to 18 years, with free medical support and a aim to reduce diabetes-related complications and deaths. The Guidance Document on Diabetes Mellitus in Children introduces a standardized national approach and links community screening with district and higher-level hospital services to ensure continuous care. It signals a shift toward prioritizing non-communicable diseases in children. The universal screening strategy will use community and school platforms, with immediate glucose testing for suspected cases and referral for confirmation. The government also promotes the 4Ts awareness framework highlighting warning signs of Type 1 diabetes.

Startup Kadapa initiative launched in Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh launched the Startup Kadapa initiative to foster youth entrepreneurship and technology-based solutions in Kadapa district. The hub, spanning about 30,000 square feet, will host more than 400 people and act as a plug-and-play space for startups and MSMEs. The project cost ₹12 crore, with ₹3 crore sanctioned by NITI Aayog and ₹4 crore CSR funding from Shirdi Sai Electricals; other funds are being arranged. The initiative aligns with the One Family, One Entrepreneur vision through a BYST partnership and collaboration with Cyient Foundation and AICTE, creating a local innovation ecosystem and mentorship opportunities.

Anugraha Narayana Das takes charge as CGDA

Anugraha Narayana Das assumed charge as Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA). He is a 1991-batch officer of the Indian Defense Accounts Service (IDAS) with over three decades of experience in defense finance management and public administration. His appointment aims to strengthen financial transparency, accountability, and efficiency in defense spending. Das holds a degree from Utkal University and studied at the University of Ljubljana (ICPE), with advanced training from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and Duke University. In his career, he served as Director in the Ministry of Water Resources, Additional Financial Adviser & Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, and Principal Integrated Financial Adviser at Army Headquarters.
