ICC Chairman Jay Shah Elected as New Member of Marylebone Cricket Club

  • Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary and current International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah was elected as a board member of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Advisory Board.
  • Shah is among the 13 founding members of the new World Cricket Connects Advisory Board, which will be headed by former Sri Lanka captain and MCC president Kumar Sangakkara. Other founding members include former India captain Sourav Ganguly, former South Africa opener Graeme Smith, former Director of England Cricket Andrew Strauss, England women's captain Heather Knight, and JioStar's CEO (Sports) Sanjog Gupta.

P. V. Sindhu, Lakshya Sen to Lead Indian Team at Badminton Asia Mixed Championship in China

  • Double Olympic medallist P. V. Sindhu and World Championships bronze winner Lakshya Sen will lead a 14-member Indian team for the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships to be held in Qingdao, China from February 11-16. India had clinched a bronze medal in the last edition of the competition in Dubai in 2023.
  • The national selectors have given importance to the world rankings and current form of the players while selecting the squad that will have H. S. Prannoy and Malvika Bansod as the second men's and women's singles players respectively.
  • The strong Indian team will also have star doubles players Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. The women's doubles pairing could be either Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly or Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto.

Michael Clarke Inducted into Australian Cricket Hall of Fame

  • Former Australian captain Michael Clarke was the latest inductee to the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame, becoming the 64th cricketer to be on the list. Clarke, a dashing top-order batter and a handy left-arm orthodox spinner, accepted at the honour at his home ground, the Sydney Cricket Ground, almost a decade after playing his final match for Australia in the away Ashes in August 2015.

Arshdeep Singh Becomes India's Highest T20I Wicket-taker

  • Pacer Arshdeep Singh became the highest wicket taker for India in the T20Is, surpassing Yuzvendra Chahal. Arshdeep, who now has 97 T20I wickets, reached the milestone during the IND vs ENG 1st T20I in Kolkata.
  • Arshdeep also took just 61 innings to reach this milestone, while Chahal had taken 80 T20Is for his 96 wickets.
