Delhi University Drops Accountancy Route for Bcom (Hons), Math Now Compulsory
Aspiring commerce students at Delhi University (DU) face a major change this admission season as Mathematics or Applied Mathematics has now been made a mandatory subject for the BCom (Hons) programme. Previously, students had the option to apply with Accountancy as an alternative to Mathematics under Combination II, but that flexibility has been removed this year.
This unexpected shift has left students currently in Classes 11 and 12 who had opted for commerce without Mathematics in a state of uncertainty. With no written proposal addressing the transition, the final decision now rests with the admission council, which is yet to clarify how such students will be accommodated.
