Ricky Kej, Anoushka Shankar, Earn Nominations for 67th Grammy Awards
Ricky Kej and Anoushka Shankar are among the Indians nominated for the 67th Grammy Awards.
Kej, a three-time Grammy winner, earned his fourth nomination for "Break of Dawn" in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category, as announced by the Recording Academy.
The category, which includes albums featuring more than 75 per cent new vocal or instrumental new age recordings, also features Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn by sitarist and composer Shankar.
Other nominees in this category are "Warriors of Light" by Radhika Vekaria and "Triveni" by entrepreneur and musician Chandrika Tandon, created in collaboration with flautist Wouter Kellerman and cellist Eru Matsumoto.
The 2025 Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place in February 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Anil Pradhan Wins Rohini Nayyar Prize
Anil Pradhan, co-founder of Young Tinker Foundation, a non-profit organisation working on hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education in underserved areas, was awarded the third Rohini Nayyar Prize for Outstanding Contribution to Rural Development.
The prize has been instituted in the memory of Rohini Nayyar by her family. Nayyar, an economist, served as an IAS officer in the Uttar Pradesh cadre, and worked with the erstwhile Planning Commission of India from 1987 to 2005. She passed away in 2021.
The prize, comprising a cash award of Rs. 10 lakh, a citation and trophy, is given annually by the Nayyar Foundation for Social and Economic Purpose, and is meant for individuals below 40 years in age.

Chiranjeevi Honoured With the Prestigious Award by Amitabh Bachchan
South star Chiranjeevi was honoured with the prestigious Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) National Award in Hyderabad. The actor was felicitated by Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan. The Akkineni International Foundation established the award in 2005 to recognise artists for their outstanding contributions to Indian cinema.
This year (2024), the event commemorated the 100th birth anniversary of Telugu cinema legend and actor Nagarjuna's father, Akkineni Nageswara Rao.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Honoured with Fiji's Highest Civilian Award
The Republic of Fiji bestowed its highest civilian award, the 'Honourary Officer of the Order of Fiji,' on Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. This recognition, presented by Fiji's President, Ratu Wiliame M. Katonivere, acknowledges Ravishankar's contributions to promoting peace, unity, and uplifting communities globally.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of The Art of Living Foundation, has also received top civilian honours from five other countries, recognising his global humanitarian impact. Established in 1981, The Art of Living focuses on initiatives in mental health, education, environment, and empowerment and now operates in over 180 countries.

Bibhab Talukdar Wins IUCN's Top Conservation Leadership Award
Assam-based conservation scientist Bibhab Kumar Talukdar was awarded the prestigious Harry Messel Award for Conservation Leadership by the Species Survival Commission (SSC) of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Abu Dhabi. This honour, awarded during the 5th IUCN SSC Leaders' Meeting, acknowledged his groundbreaking contributions to species conservation, particularly for Asian rhinos, through both leadership and on-ground initiatives. Talukdar is an influential conservationist associated with IUCN SSC since 1991 and became Chair of the Asian Rhino Specialist Group in 2008.
Talukdar has played a pivotal role in organising three Asian Rhino States meetings in Indonesia, India, and Nepal, resulting in a landmark commitment to protect Asian rhino species. He has also been a key driver of the Indian Rhino Vision 2020, which successfully translocated 22 rhinos to Manas National Park from 2008 to 2022.
