Punjabi Singer Shubh Roped in as Global Climate Brand Ambassador for UN

Renowned Punjabi singer Shubhneet Singh, known professionally as Shubh, was named as the Global Ambassador for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Digital Climate Library.
The announcement was made by the UNFCCC at the UN climate conference in Baku, Azerbaijan.
As the Global Ambassador, the Canada-based rapper and singer-songwriter will engage audiences to raise awareness about climate change and promote sustainable solutions.

Shivangi Desai Crowned Miss Charm India 2024 Set to Represent India on the Global Stage

Shivangi Desai, a law student in her final year at the prestigious Indian Law School (ILS) Pune, achieved the remarkable milestone of winning the national title of Miss Charm India 2024. This esteemed title, organised under the aegis of the Glamanand Group, led by visionary founder Nikhil Anand, positions Shivangi to represent India on the global stage at Miss Charm 2024, to be held in Vietnam this December.
Shivangi's journey into the pageant world began at the tender age of 16 when she claimed the May Queen title in 2018 at the RSI Army Institute in Pune. This early victory paved the way for her stellar career, including prestigious accolades such as Miss Teen India North at Miss Teen Diva, Miss NDA, and 1st Runner-Up at Miss Universe Gujarat, among others.

Japanese Princess Yuriko, Oldest Member of Imperial Family, Dies

Japanese Princess Yuriko, the wife of wartime Emperor Hirohito's brother and the oldest member of the imperial family, died. She was 101.
Her death reduces Japan's rapidly dwindling imperial family to 16 people, including four men, as the country faces the dilemma of how to maintain the royal family while conservatives in the governing party insist on retaining male-only succession.
The youngest male member of the imperial family, Prince Hisahito, the nephew of Emperor Naruhito, is currently the last heir apparent, posing a major problem for a system that doesn't allow empresses. The government is debating how to keep succession stable without relying on women.

World-Renowned Mridangam Scholar Varadarao Kamalakara Rao Passes Away

The music world has lost a legendary artist and scholar in Mridangam, Varadarao Kamalakara Rao, who passed away at the age of 88. Renowned for his expertise and innovative approach to Mridangam, Rao dedicated his life to Indian classical music and inspired generations with his unique rhythm and technique. His contributions to Carnatic music, collaborations with celebrated musicians, and the numerous honours he received throughout his life underscore his impact on Indian music.
In recognition of his talents and contributions to Indian classical music, Kamalakara Rao received several prestigious awards, including the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, one of India's highest honours in performing arts. During his college years, he was awarded the President's Medal by none other than Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the then President of India. This honour cemented his place as a revered figure in the world of Carnatic music.

Veteran Actor Delhi Ganesh Passes Away at 80

Noted Tamil actor 'Delhi' Ganesh, renowned for his remarkable versatility in over 400 films, passed away at the age of 80.
He started his film carrier in 1976 in the movie Pattina Pravesam directed by K. Balachander.
Delhi Ganesh's contributions to Tamil cinema span across a remarkable variety of roles, and his performances were deeply appreciated by audiences across generations.
He received the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize (1979) and Kalaimamani Award (1994).
