IAF Contingent Arrives in France for Garuda�'2025 Air Exercise

  • A major milestone in the Indo�'French defence partnership began as the Indian Air Force contingent landed at the Mont�'de�'Marsan Air Base in France for the biennial bilateral air exercise Garuda�'2025, scheduled from November 16 to 27, 2025. This exercise reflects deepening ties between India and France across military, technological and strategic domains.
  • The bilateral air exercise – Garuda 25 is the 8th edition.
  • Originally launched in 2003, the bilateral air exercise Exercise Garuda brings together the Indian Air Force and the French Air and Space Force in joint training environments.
  • India and France share a broad strategic partnership including defence technology, aviation cooperation, and joint operations. The current edition seeks to further boost operational synergy and mutual learning.

Army's Sapta Shakti Command Conducts Large-scale Combat Exercise in Thar Desert

  • The Indian Army's Sapta Shakti Command conducted a large-scale combat exercise at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in the Thar Desert to assess war preparedness and operational capability of its formations.
  • The exercise, carried out by the command's Ranbankura Division, aimed to refine tactical drills, strengthen inter-arms coordination, and test the integration of all units and sub-units in challenging battlefield conditions.
  • Sapta Shakti Command chief Lt Gen Manjinder Singh reviewed the operational manoeuvres during the exercise.

DRDO Unveils New Man-Portable Underwater Vehicles

  • In a fresh development, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) created a new class of lightweight autonomous underwater vehicles that can be carried and deployed by personnel. The defence ministry announced the achievement.
  • This next-generation system features several underwater drones fitted with side-scan sonar units and sub-surface cameras, allowing them to identify suspicious, mine-like objects in real time.
  • According to the defence ministry, these autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) use advanced deep-learning algorithms onboard to automatically recognise and categorise underwater targets. This capability cuts down the need for constant human monitoring and shortens overall mission duration.
  • The man-portable AUVs were designed and produced by the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), a DRDO facility based in Visakhapatnam.

India & Central Asian Countries Conclude Strategic Cyber Exercise

  • The National Security Council Secretariat, Government of India, in partnership with Ministry of External Affairs and National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre, held a three-day Strategic Cyber Exercise for Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan – from November 12 to 14, 2025 at New Delhi.
  • The Strategic Cyber Exercise marked the successful completion of one of the commitments made by India under the framework of the India-Central Asian Meeting of Secretaries of Security Councils/NSAs. Technical teams from the cyber security agencies, national Computer Emergency Response Teams and relevant security agencies of the Central Asian countries participated in the Exercise.
  • The Exercise focused on equipping technical teams with advanced skills to combat increasingly sophisticated transnational cyber threats targeting the region's critical infrastructure. It also successfully integrated intensive technical capacity building with skills for high-level strategic policy decision making and deliberations on future areas of collaboration.

  • A commemorative postal stamp honouring the legendary bravery of the 13th Battalion of the Kumaon Regiment was unveiled in New Delhi, highlighting the enduring legacy of the Battle of Rezang La.
  • The stamp, based on the Rezang La War Memorial in Ladakh, was unveiled in the capital by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh ahead of the battle's 63rd anniversary on November 18.

The 6th India-Vietnam Army Exercise VINBAX Begins in Hanoi

  • The 6th India-Vietnam Army Exercise VINBAX commenced in Hanoi, Vietnam, with the aim of strengthening defence cooperation between the two countries. The opening ceremony was presided over by India's Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Vietnam's Deputy Chief of General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, the exercise focuses on interoperability and UN peacekeeping operations. This exercise concludes on November 29, 2025.
