Viswanathan Anand Wins 10th Leon Masters Chess Championship

Viswanathan Anand, the former world chess champion from India, achieved a remarkable feat. He won the Leon Masters chess championship for the 10th time, defeating Jaime Santos Latasa of Spain in the final with a score of 3-1. This victory adds another jewel to Anand's crown of achievements in the world of chess.
The Leon Masters is a prestigious chess tournament held in Leon, Spain. It features four top players competing against each other. In 2024, the participants were: Viswanathan Anand (India), Arjun Erigaisi (India), Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) and Jaime Santos Latasa (Spain).
Anand's previous victories came in: 1996, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2011, 2016, and now 2024.

India's Jyothi Yarraji Wins Gold in Women's 100m Hurdles at National Inter State Senior Athletics...

India's Jyothi Yarraji won the gold medal in the women's 100m hurdles at the National Inter State Senior Athletics Championships in Panchkula, Haryana. Jyothi won with a timing of 13.06 seconds.
While in men's 110m hurdles, Tejas Shirse won the gold medal with a timing of 13.54 seconds. Both Jyothi and Tejas are most likely to qualify for Paris Olympics via World rankings.

Dinesh Karthik Named RCB Men's Team Batting Coach and Mentor

A month after announcing his retirement from all form of cricket, former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru as batting coach and mentor.
The wicketkeeper-batter made 257 appearances in IPL, scoring 4,842 runs at an average of 26.32. Karthik played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, and Kings XI Punjab apart from RCB.

India Overcome Resilient South Africa and Win One-off Women's Test by 10 Wickets

India were made to wait a tad longer for the winning moment by centurion Laura Wolvaardt, but they eventually went past the line convincingly by 10 wickets on the fourth and final day of the one-off women's Test against South Africa in Chennai.
India were required to chase a modest 37 after bowling out South Africa for 373 in their second innings and the hosts accomplished the task in 9.2 overs without losing a wicket. India had declared their first innings closed at 603 for six.
The opening duo of Shubha Satheesh (13 not out) and Shafali Verma (24 not out) steered their side home comfortably.
This is India's second 10-wicket triumph in Tests after a scoring a similar win over the Proteas at Paarl in 2002.

Spain's Robin Le Normand's own goal gave a surprise lead to Georgia but Rodri scored an equaliser in the 39th minute, followed by Fabian Ruiz, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo's goals in the second half. The dominant performance of Spain over Euro Cup debutant Georgia secured them a place in the quarter-finals against Germany.
In another pre-quarterfinals, England beat Slovakia 2-1 at the Veltins Arena in Germany, last night. England's Jude Bellingham's stunning overhead kick in the final moments of the match levelled the score with Slovakia and took the game to extra time. Harry Kane's strike sealed the win in the first minute of extra time. In the quarter-finals, England will face Switzerland.
