Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa Issues Circular Exempting Advocates From Wearing Black Coats Fro...
Taking note of the rising temperatures, the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa (BCMG) has decided that advocates need not wear their usual dress code of "black coats" from March 1 to June 30, every year.
Notably the "exemption" for lawyers from wearing their usual dress code was earlier only during the summer months of May to June. But this year (2025), the exemption will commence from March 1.
Central Government Assigns Benches to 21 Newly Appointed NCLT Members
The Central Government assigned Benches to 21 of the 24 newly appointed judicial and technical members of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
The assignment was made after the NCLT Bar Association raised concerns over the delay in posting of the appointed members. It was alleged that the members were yet to be posted on the benches despite having completed their induction program.
The Central government had in January notified the appointment of 24 persons as judicial and technical members of NCLT.
The 24 appointees will serve a tenure of five years beginning from the date they assume the charge or until they attain the age of sixty-five years.

Senior Advocate Vivek Subba Reddy was re-elected as the President of the Advocates' Association, Bengaluru (AAB) for the second consecutive term. Reddy secured a record-breaking 6,820 votes, defeating former AAB President Ranganath AP, who garnered 4,518 votes. Other candidates included Rajanna R (1,473 votes), Nanjappa Kalegowda (123 votes), Ravi T G (378 votes), and Rajashekhara TA (90 votes).
Girish Kumar CS was elected as Vice President with 5,060 votes, defeating CR Gowda who secured 3,128 votes. Praveen Gowda HV became the General Secretary after receiving 4,854 votes, surpassing Harisha MT with 3,728 votes. Shwetha Ravishankar won the Treasurer position with 2,950 votes in a competitive election reserved for women.

Central government notified the appointment of following three Additional Judges of the Telangana High Court as permanent Judges: Justice Laxmi Narayana Alishetty, Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti, and Justice Sujana Kalasikam.
The Supreme Court Collegium had made a recommendation in this regard in its meeting held on February 5, 2025.
Justice Laxmi Narayana Alishetty, Justice Anilkukumar Jukanti, and Justice Sujana Kalasikam were appointed as Additional Judges of the Telangana High Court on July 31, 2023.
