Suman Billa Takes over as DG, Tourism, Mugdha Sinha at the Helm of ITDC
Suman Billa, Additional Secretary, Tourism, was appointed as the new Director General, Tourism and replaced Mugdha Sinha. According to appointments released by Department of Personnel and Training, Sinha took over as Managing Director, India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC).

Sarbananda Sonowal Flags off Cruise Operations from the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal
The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoSPW), Sarbananda Sonowal flagged off Cruise Operations from the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT), India's largest cruise terminal, in Mumbai. The Union Minister also inaugurated renovated Fire Memorial at Victoria Docks as well as renovated two heritage buildings — Fort House Ballard Estate and Evelyn House at Colaba. Sonowal also inaugurated Sagar Upvan garden along with Shore to Ship Electric Supply under Green Port Initiative.
The MICT, developed as per Cruise Bharat Mission, was developed as per latest global standards and is expected to take a pioneering role in developing cruise tourism in India.

MakeMyTrip Foundation and WTTCII Host First India Sustainability Conclave on Travel and Tourism
The inaugural India Travel and Tourism Sustainability Conclave, jointly hosted by the MakeMyTrip Foundation and World Travel and Tourism Council India Initiative (WTTCII), took place in New Delhi. The day-long event convened over 30 key representatives from government, industry, and civil society to create a unified approach towards sustainable development within the country's travel and tourism sector.
Opened by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, it featured discussions on five themes including hospitality, aviation, mobility, climate action, and responsible tourism.

Dubai Airport Retains Title as Busiest International Hub
Dubai International Airport maintained its position as the busiest international airport in the world in 2024, Bloomberg reported citing data from Airports Council International (ACI). The airport, which serves as the hub for Emirates Airlines, accommodated 92.3 million passengers last year (2024), an increase of 6.1 per cent from 2023.
Following Dubai, London Heathrow Airport ranked second in international passenger traffic, with Seoul Incheon third, Singapore Changi and Amsterdam Schiphol rounded out the top five busiest airports for international flights.

Singapore Changi Named Best Airport in the World
Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) claimed the prestigious title of World's Best Airport 2025 at the Skytrax World Airport Awards held in Madrid, Spain marking its thirteenth victory in the awards' history.
In addition to the top honour, Changi Airport also secured awards for World's Best Airport Dining, World's Best Airport Washrooms, and Best Airport in Asia, cementing its status as a global aviation leader.
The annual World Airport Awards, conducted by Skytrax, are based on comprehensive customer satisfaction surveys involving over 100 nationalities between August 2024 and February 2025. The evaluation covers all aspects of the airport experience, from check-in and security to shopping and gate departures.
