Sanskrit to Become Mandatory in 416 Uttarakhand Madrasas

Karnataka Renames All Residential Schools as Maharishi Valmiki Schools
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah honoured Maharishi Valmiki on his Jayanti by garlanding his statue at the Legislators' House in Vidhana Soudha. He used the occasion and announced key initiatives to promote equality and empowerment for marginalised communities.
In a major move, Siddaramaiah declared that all government residential schools in Karnataka will be renamed as 'Maharshi Valmiki Residential Schools.' Additionally, Raichur University will be renamed as 'Maharishi Valmiki University,' aligning with efforts to honour the contributions of Maharishi Valmiki.
SECL Becomes First Coal Company to Open Four AMRIT Pharmacies
South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Chhattisgarh-based subsidiary of Coal India, opened its fourth AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) Pharmacy, making it the first coal company to do so. This 216th AMRIT pharmacy, located at SECL's Health Centre in Indira Vihar Colony, Bilaspur, will provide generic and life-saving medicines at highly subsidised rates, benefiting SECL employees, the general public, and underserved tribal and rural communities. This initiative aligns with the government's Special Campaign 4.0 to promote inclusivity and improve access to healthcare.
CBSE to Host National Summit on Bridging School to Work Transition
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to host its second National Summit on "Facilitating School to Work Transition" in Bhubaneswar on November 21, 2024. IIT-Kanpur Announces New Fellowship for Their PhD Students
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) announced the launch of the Fellowship for Academic and Research Excellence (FARE), a new initiative to recognise and support exceptional PhD students who demonstrate outstanding academic and research capabilities. The fellowship aims to encourage the timely completion of doctoral studies while promoting high-quality research output.
The fellowship offers financial support for up to 12 months, with a stipend equivalent to that of the Institute, post-doctoral fellows, along with additional research-related grants. The current thesis supervisor will continue to serve as the mentor, although collaborations with other faculty members during the fellowship period will be allowed.

Prof Priti Saxena is Vice-Chancellor of HPNLU Shimla
Prof. Priti Saxena was appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla
The appointment notification was issued by Himachal Pradesh High Court Chief Justice and University Chancellor Rajiv Shakdher.
Prof. Saxena has been hired for a period of five years or until she attains the age of sixty-five years.
She succeeded Nishtha Jaswal as Vice-Chancellor of HPNLU, Shimla.
Saxena earned her law degree from Rohilkhand University, Bareilly and her PhD in Law from Kumaun University, Nainital. She has previously held the post of Dean, School for Legal Studies at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow.

IIT Madras, French University Partner to Offer Bio-manufacturing Course
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is partnering with University of Tours, France, to offer a course on 'Sustainable Bio-Manufacturing of high-value Phytochemicals'.
This course is being offered through the 'Global Initiative of Academic Networks' (GIAN) programme to promote collaboration with international universities.
The course is in line with the vision of the Government of India's 'BioE3' Policy, which aims to promote and facilitate Large-scale Manufacturing of Bio-products for Sustainable Development with High-Performance Biomanufacturing.
The course deals with sustainable biomanufacturing of high-value plant-derived natural products using plant and microbial bio-factories, which can also conserve nature while fulfilling the increasing market demand for phytochemicals for various commercial applications.
