Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth Launches GAINS 2024 at GRSE

Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth inaugurated the GRSE Accelerated Innovation Nurturing Scheme (GAINS 2024) at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) in Kolkata. This initiative aims to foster technological solutions for shipyard challenges and promote innovation through Indian start-ups.
Under the 'Make in India' and 'Start-up India' initiatives, GAINS 2024 encourages MSMEs and Start-Ups to develop innovative solutions for enhancing technological capabilities in the ship design and construction sector. It aims to leverage the entrepreneurial ecosystem to address current and future industry challenges, promoting self-reliance and bolstering national defence capabilities.

Smart Cities Mission Extended Till March 2025

The Centre extended the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) under the Union Urban Development Ministry till March 31, 2025.
Under the SCM, launched in June 2015, 100 cities were chosen through a competition to be developed as smart cities. The mission envisions developing areas within selected cities in the country as model areas based on an area development plan, which is expected to have a rub-off effect on other parts of the city and nearby cities and towns.
The mission has an allocated budget of Rs. 48,000 crore for the 100 cities. As on date, Rs. 46,585 crore or 97% of the allocated budget has been released. Out of these funds released to the cities, 93% have been utilised as on date.
This extension was informed to the cities that it would be without any additional cost, beyond the already approved financial allocation under the mission. All ongoing projects are now expected to be completed before March 31, 2025.

NITI Aayog Launches 'Sampoornata Abhiyan'

In a significant move to accelerate the development of India's most challenging regions, NITI Aayog launched the 'Sampoornata Abhiyan'. This ambitious 3-month campaign aims to achieve saturation in key indicators across 112 Aspirational Districts and 500 Aspirational Blocks, marking a new chapter in India's journey towards inclusive growth.
The 'Sampoornata Abhiyan', which translates to 'Completeness Campaign', represents a concentrated effort to bring about holistic development in areas that have historically lagged behind. By focusing on six crucial indicators, the campaign seeks to ensure that no one is left behind in India's progress story.

Tripura to Launch Vidya Pravesh Scheme to Boost Elementary Education

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said that the Centre has been working to improve the education system and that the state government is working in tandem with it to introduce the ambitious Vidya Pravesh scheme.
The Vidya Pravesh scheme is a three-month play-based school preparation module, and Rs. 128 crore was sanctioned for it to boost the quality of elementary education.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu Launches NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched the NTR Bharosa pension scheme, fulfilling a key election promise and bringing hope to millions of beneficiaries across the state.
The NTR Bharosa Scheme is a social security program designed to provide financial support to various vulnerable groups in Andhra Pradesh.
Increased pension amounts for different categories:
Old-aged people, widows, weavers, etc.: Rs. 4,000 per month (up from Rs. 3,000)
Disabled and leprosy patients: Rs. 6,000 per month (up from Rs. 3,000)
Severely disabled: Rs. 15,000 per month (up from Rs. 5,000)
Chronic disease patients: Rs. 10,000 per month (up from Rs. 5,000)
The scheme is named after Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), a significant figure in Andhra Pradesh's history.
