2024 Champions of the Earth: Honoring Bold Environmental Leadership
The 2024 Champions of the Earth, the United Nations' highest environmental honor, were awarded to six extraordinary individuals and organizations for their outstanding leadership, courageous actions, and sustainable solutions to combat land degradation, drought, and desertification. This prestigious accolade recognises trailblazers from various sectors who are at the forefront of efforts to protect both people and the planet. Since its inception in 2005, the award had celebrated 122 laureates. This year's focus was on champions restoring degraded land, increasing drought resilience, and preventing desertification.
The following are the 2024 awardees: Sonia Guajajara (Brazil), Amy Bowers Cordalis (United States), Gabriel Paun (Romania), Lu Qi (China), Madhav Gadgil (India) and SEKEM Initiative (Egypt).
Telugu Woman Banker Honoured as Rising Star in Banking 2024
Bharati Kolli, from Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh, was recognised as one of the Rising Star Women Leaders of Banking for 2024 by the renowned women's group, Women We Admire. Bharati's remarkable contribution to the banking sector, particularly in data management, has earned her this prestigious recognition. She is currently serving as the Director of the Data Management Office at the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) at its New York headquarters.

India Today Wins Big at ITA Awards 2024
India Today was honoured with the 'Best News Channel (English)' award at the Indian Television Academy (ITA) Awards 2024 in Mumbai.
This recognition was just one of many accolades the channel received, with India Today also winning awards for Best Anchor for Current Affairs (English), Best Anchor – Talk Show, among several others.
India Today TV News Director Rahul Kanwal won the Best Anchor award for Current Affairs (English), as well as Best Anchor for his talk show segment 'Jab We Met'.
Besides, 'Time Capsule', hosted by India Today TV Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai, won the Best Talk/Chat Show award.
Not just India Today, Aaj Tak also won big at the ITA Awards. It was awarded the title of 'Best Hindi News Channel'. The Best Anchor (Chat Show) award was won by Aaj Tak Managing Editor Anjana Om Kashyap for her show 'Halla Bol'.
Aaj Tak Managing Editors Shweta Singh and Ashok Singhal also won in the 'Best Show Talk/Chat' category.
India Today and Aaj Tak once again dominated the ITA Awards, securing the titles of 'Best English News Channel' and 'Best Hindi News Channel,' repeating their achievements from 2023.

Tripura Bags 7 National Panchayat Awards
Tripura achieved a remarkable milestone in the Panchayar Raj System by winning seven National Panchayat Awards, with a total cash of Rs. 10 crore.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Shah celebrated the achievement, stating that it underscores the state government's commitment to good governance and transformative development in the lives of citizens.
The awards will be given out at the National Panchayat Award Ceremony slated to be held on December 11 in New Delhi. A delegation led by Sandeep R. Rathode, Secretary, Rural Development (Panchayat) department, will represent the state government at the event.

This year (2024), Twenty-seven Indian students found a place in the 'Roll of Honour' of Diana Awards. These exceptional young people have demonstrated their ability to inspire and mobilise new generations to serve their communities and create long-lasting change on a global scale,
Instituted in memory of the late Princess Diana, the award is the highest recognition a young person can achieve for social action or humanitarian efforts. It is supported by both her sons, HRH the Prince of Wales and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and presented by a charity bearing the same name.

India Wins ISSA Good Practice Award for Asia and Pacific 2024
India was awarded the prestigious International Social Security Association (ISSA) Good Practice Award for Asia and Pacific 2024 during the Regional Social Security Forum held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The honour was presented by Dr. Mohammed Azman, President of ISSA. The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, was lauded for its innovative and inclusive social security initiatives, receiving five Certificates of Merit for various programs and a Special Mention for its Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan Patra).
EPFO received five Certificates of Merit for outstanding initiatives in the following areas of service delivery: Communication Channels, E-proceedings, Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0 (Massive District Outreach Programme), Multilingual Call Centres and Prayaas Initiative.
The ISSA Good Practice Award celebrates initiatives that align with the association's guidelines for improving social security systems worldwide. India's achievement at the Asia-Pacific level is a testament to the country's commitment to modernizing and making its social security infrastructure more inclusive and effective.
