Bangladesh Takes Over Chairmanship of BIMSTEC for Next Two Years
Bangladesh officially became the new Chair of BIMSTEC for the next two years. It received the leadership from Thailand, the previous Chair.
Chief Advisor of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, accepted the chairmanship. He said that Bangladesh will focus on making BIMSTEC more inclusive (involving everyone) and action-oriented (focused on real results).
Bangladesh now has a big role in leading BIMSTEC and helping the region move forward together. With cooperation and shared goals, the BIMSTEC countries hope to build a stronger and more connected South and Southeast Asia.

India Ranks 36 Out of 170 Nations on Readiness for Frontier Technologies Global
India ranked 36th out of 170 nations on a global index measuring a country's readiness for frontier technologies, improving its ranking from last year, according to a UN report.
The 2025 Technology and Innovation Report, issued by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), stated that India ranked 36th in 2024 on the 'Readiness for Frontier Technologies' index, improving its position from 48th in 2022.
The index combines indicators for ICT deployment, skills, research and development (R&D) activity, industrial capacity, and access to finance.

Bay of Bengal Nations to Strengthen Cooperation at BIMSTEC Summit in Thailand
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand. The theme of the Summit is 'BIMSTEC – Prosperous, Resilient and Open.' The Bangkok Vision 2030 was adopted at the Summit, and the Report of the BIMSTEC Eminent Persons' Group was also endorsed to chart the future direction of BIMSTEC.
BIMSTEC brings together seven countries located in the Bay of Bengal – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The Bay of Bengal is the heart of the Indian Ocean Region. BIMSTEC is the only regional organisation, which brings together five countries from South Asia and two countries from Southeast Asia. BIMSTEC represents a significant share of the global population, GDP and external trade. India is one of the four founding members of BIMSTEC.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa Forms Transitional Government
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced the formation of a transitional government, appointing 23 ministers in a diverse new cabinet.
As per reports, the government, which was revealed, includes Yarub Badr, an Alawite, as Transport Minister, while Amgad Badr from the Druze community will oversee the agriculture ministry.
Unlike traditional structures, the government will not have a Prime Minister, with al-Sharaa expected to directly lead the executive branch.

Hurun Global Rich List 2025: Shanghai overtakes Mumbai as Asia's Billionaire Capital
Shanghai overtook Mumbai as the billionaire capital of Asia for the first time, with 92 individuals compared to the 90 billionaires living in Mumbai. According to the Hurun Global Rich List for 2025, India ranks third with 284 billionaires. India's billionaire tally rose slightly over the past year to 284 people with a cumulative wealth of Rs. 98 lakh crore.
For the first time in 10 years, the US leads the list with 870 billionaires, while China follows with 823 of the world's wealthiest residents. Data released by Hurun Global Rich List indicates that 175 Indian billionaires increased their wealth while 109 others saw their fortunes dip or stay unchanged.
