The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) released its 7th Frontiers report, 'The Weight of Time', in July 2025. It warns of growing threats from extreme heat and toxic pollution to the world's ageing population. The report marks how climate change and environmental hazards increasingly endanger older adults, especially in urban and low- to middle-income regions.
Heat-related deaths among people aged 65 and above have surged by 85% since the 1990s. If global temperatures rise by 2°C, deaths could increase by 370% by 2050. Older adults have reduced ability to regulate body temperature.

In a declaration adopted at the 17th edition of the BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil the BRICS leaders condemned the Pahalgam terror attack in the strongest terms and called for combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including the cross-border movement of terrorists, terrorism financing, and the provision of safe havens.

Elon Musk Launches New Political Party in the US
Elon Musk, the billionaire businessman, announced the launch of a new political party called the America Party. This comes after public fallout with former US President Donald Trump, making the move even more significant.
Earlier, Musk was a close supporter of Donald Trump. He even joined election rallies and was part of Trump's administration. But their relationship turned sour when Musk left his government role in May 2025. He strongly criticized Trump's new spending and tax plans, which Musk believes will increase the US budget deficit by more than $3 trillion. One big reason for Musk's disappointment is that the new law offers no benefits for electric vehicles or green energy — areas Musk is deeply involved in through his company Tesla.
