  • The Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha virtually inaugurated the newly established Court for District and Additional Sessions Judge Court at Narayanpur, Civil District Kondagaon.
  • Stressing the indispensable role of quality judicial infrastructure in delivering fair and efficient justice, Chief Justice Sinha expressed his vision towards establishing adequate judicial infrastructure across the State.
  • During his address, he said that considering the hardships being faced by litigants, particularly in Sessions Cases who were compelled to travel from Narayanpur to Kondagaon, the establishment of the new District & Additional Sessions Court at Narayanpur, will be significantly more convenient for enlarging access to swift justice, and the dispensation of justice will proceed at an accelerated pace, representing a commendable advancement in justice delivery system for the people of Revenue District Narayanpur.

Central Government Clears Appointment of 5 Judicial Officers as Kerala High Court Judges

  • The Central government cleared the appointment of five judicial officers as additional judges of the Kerala High Court.
  • The judicial officers who were appointed are: K. V. Jayakumar, Muralee Krishna S, Jobin Sebastian, P. V. Balakrishnan and P. P. Krishna Kumar.
  • The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended their appointment by a resolution dated October 15.

Justice Sanjiv Khanna Appointed Next Chief Justice of India

  • President Droupadi Murmu appointed Justice Sanjiv Khanna as the 51st Chief Justice of India.
  • Justice Khanna, who will take oath on November 11, will succeed CJI D. Y. Chandrachud who is due to retire on November 10.
  • Justice Khanna will have a relatively short tenure of just six months as he is due to retire on March 13, 2025.
  • A graduate of Delhi University's Campus Law Centre, he enrolled as an advocate in 1983 and primarily practised before the Delhi High Court. He was elevation as judge of Delhi High Court in June 2005.
  • In January 2019 Justice Khanna was elevated to the Supreme Court.
