Bahraich's Karikot Village Gets Tourism Award for 'Inclusivity'
Karikot, a border village in UP's Bahraich district, honoured with the Indian Subcontinent Responsible Tourism Award 2025 under the category of 'Peace, Understanding and Inclusivity.'
The award was presented at the Business Leisure Travel and MICE Conclave 2025 held in Delhi.
Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satyapal Maharaj presented the award to Chief Development Officer (CDO) Bahraich Mukesh Chand, Village Development Officer (VDO) Sushil Singh, and Gram Pradhan Parvati Devi, who received the honour on behalf of the community.
The recognition came under the framework of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT), acknowledging Karikot's exemplary efforts in promoting sustainable and inclusive rural tourism.
Situated beside the Katarniaghat landscape near the confluence of the Gerua and Kauriala rivers, Karikot has developed homestays, culture-rich walks, local cuisine experiences, and women-led turmeric value chains that welcome visitors while strengthening household incomes and social cohesion.
The village represents a unique example of inclusivity, where the Tharu community, along with Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim families, has joined hands to develop rural tourism in a sustainable and collective manner.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $126.42 million loan agreement to promote rural development through sustainable and climate-resilient tourism in the Tehri Lake region of Uttarakhand.
The ADB loan supports the Government of Uttarakhand's policy to position the state as a diversified, all-weather tourism destination, with Tehri Lake identified as a priority area for development.
The project showcases a model for sustainable tourism anchored around a hydropower lake by adopting a multisector approach to generate jobs, diversify income, and build climate resilience.
The project targets the Tehri Garhwal District, one of Uttarakhand's most climate-vulnerable and economically disadvantaged regions. It aims to benefit over 87,000 residents and 2.7 million annual visitors through improved tourism planning, upgraded infrastructure, enhanced sanitation and waste management, and disaster preparedness.

The Dubai Maritime Authority and Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism announced the launch of the Dock & Dine initiative, creating seamless connections between luxury dining and marina experiences across the emirate.
The comprehensive program encompasses 20 premier marinas and marine stations throughout Dubai, offering yacht owners and guests unprecedented access to world-class waterfront dining within a convenient 45-minute to one-hour sailing radius. The initiative directly supports Dubai's Economic Agenda D33, which aims to strengthen the city's global standing in business and leisure tourism.

Air India Express Becomes Fourth Indian Airline to Join Global Body IATA
Air India Express joined the IATA as a member, making it the fourth Indian carrier to be part of the global airlines' association.
The International Airport Transport Association (IATA) represents around 350 airlines that account for about 80 per cent of the global air traffic.
IATA welcomed the membership of Air India Express, which was launched in 2005 and is the low-cost wholly-owned subsidiary of Air India.

Ujjain Hosts Global Spiritual Tourism Conclave 2025
Ujjain, the holy city of Mahakal in Madhya Pradesh, hosted a global spiritual tourism conclave that provided a platform for dialogue on strengthening infrastructure and the impact of AI and virtual reality in the sector.
The event was organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, and the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board.
