Odisha Government Announces Change in School Uniforms for Classes 9, 10
The newly formed BJP government announced a new colour scheme for the uniforms of students in classes 9 and 10 at government and aided schools. According to the official directive, the updated uniforms will incorporate a combination of light brown, chocolate, and clay-baked yellow.
The current school uniforms consist of a green and white colour scheme, aligning with the colour code of the BJD's party symbol.
Under the "Chief Minister's Students' Wear Scheme," new uniforms have been chosen for government and government-aided secondary school students. Instructions have been issued, and the new uniforms will be distributed to schools where the previous uniforms have not been stitched or provided.
IIT Madras Launches 'Cyber Commandos' Training for Law Enforcement Officers
IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation launched a new training program to create 'Cyber Commandos' among law enforcement officers across India. An initiative of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the 'Cyber Commandos' programme is a critical step in bolstering India's cyber defence capabilities.
This specialised force will be at the forefront of defending the nation against cyberattacks, safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining digital sovereignty.
The Cyber Commandos will represent a significant upgrade from existing cybercrime cells. While these cells primarily focus on reactive measures like investigation and prosecution of cybercrimes, the commandos will be a proactive force.
The training programme was launched at IIT Madras today by Professor V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, in the presence of Dr. Sandeep Mittal, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Cyber Crime Wing, Tamil Nadu, Col Arvind Kumar, Director, Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), Mr. Mayank Ghildiyal, Deputy Director, I4C, Dr. M. J. Shankar Raman, CEO, IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation and other dignitaries.

ICAI Hosts Conclave to Enhance Local Self-government accounting Practices
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), through its Committee on Public and Government Financial Management (CPGFM), organised a one-and-a-half-day Local Governance Synergy Conclave at Hotel Le Meridien in New Delhi.
The Conclave was inaugurated by Girish Chandra Murmu, Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, alongside key dignitaries, including Vivek Bhardwaj, IAS, Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, and CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President of ICAI.
Social Justice Minister Launches Programme for Educators to teach Children with Disabilities
Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar launched a programme aimed at creating a skilled workforce of educators equipped to teach children with disabilities.
The Integrated Special and Inclusive Teacher Education Programme (ISITEP) is a four-year integrated Bachelor of Education degree programme designed to prepare special education teachers for foundational (up to Class 2), preparatory (Class 3-5), middle (Class 6-8), and secondary levels (class 9-12).
The initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises the need for multidisciplinary, high-quality teacher education programmes.
Uttar Pradesh to Get 2 New Private Universities in Mathura, Meerut
The Uttar Pradesh cabinet gave the green light to the 'Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Promotion Policy, 2024,' aimed at improving the quality of education for the state's youth. The policy includes provisions such as stamp duty exemptions, capital subsidies, and special incentives for sponsoring bodies, with additional benefits for universities ranked in the top 50.
Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay highlighted that this initiative will boost private investment to meet the increasing demand for higher education within the state, providing students access to high-quality education locally. The policy is also expected to create both direct and indirect employment for young people in Uttar Pradesh.
As part of the meeting, the cabinet approved the establishment of two new private universities in Mathura and Meerut. The 'Rajiv Memorial Academic Welfare Society' has been granted permission to establish KD University in Mathura, while 'Vidya Bal Mandali' received approval to set up Vidya University in Meerut on a 42.755-acre campus.

Kerala Launches New Training Programme Benefiting over 8 Lakh Students
The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), a state-run organisation, launched a groundbreaking initiative to support and guide over 8,00,000 students from public schools as they prepare for various undergraduate entrance exams.
KITE, the technology arm of Kerala's General Education Department, introduced a program titled 'Key to Entrance'. The initiative was officially inaugurated by General Education Minister V. Sivankutty.
The initiative aims to strengthen the state's dedication to expanding educational opportunities and offering support to students in the Science, Humanities, and Commerce streams.

Telangana state government launched the 'Telangana Darshini' Program to those government school students to explore historical and tourist sites at no cost. It is also designed to enrich the educational experiences of government school students.
It aims to enhance student's knowledge through experiential learning rather than traditional classroom lessons.
Research shows that firsthand experiences contribute significantly to a deeper understanding of subjects.
IIT Madras to Launch Skill Training Programme for Engineering and Science Students
IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation partnered with SWAYAM Plus to launch a new initiative to train Engineering and Science students with electronics backgrounds with industry-ready technical skills.
Placement assistance will be provided for students who excel in the program. Pravartak will select the students for the training program to impart industry-ready skills. The training program will be at IIT Madras Campus.
IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation is a Section 8 Company housing a Technology Innovation Hub on Sensors, Networking, Actuators and Control Systems. It is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems and hosted by IIT Madras.

IIT Delhi Introduces Research Award, Honours PhD Scholars with Rs. 25,000 Prize
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi launched the Research Communications Award (RCA) to enhance communication skills amongst its PhD scholars. The inaugural winners received a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 each for their exceptional work.
As part of the RCA initiative, PhD candidates were challenged to write engaging narratives about their research, making it accessible to a broader audience. The award aims to celebrate achievements in communication through competitions like the Research Story Writing Competition and the Three-Minute Thesis (3MT).
In the Research Story Writing Competition, participants were required to craft a compelling story that highlighted their research's significance. The 3MT competition allowed candidates to present a concise, three-minute overview of their work to an engaged audience, emphasising the importance of their findings.
