Centre Expands Credit Guarantee Scheme for Start-ups
The Centre notified an expansion of the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Start-ups (CGSS). The revised scheme significantly enhances guarantee coverage and reduces associated fees, in a bid to ease access to debt funding for early-stage and innovation-driven enterprises.
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, announced that the ceiling on guarantee cover per borrower under the CGSS was raised from Rs. 10 crore to Rs. 20 crore. Simultaneously, the extent of guarantee coverage was revised to 85% of the amount in default for loan amounts up to Rs. 10 crore and 75% for amounts exceeding that limit.

Kerala Launches 'Jyothi' Scheme to Bring Migrant Children into Schools
The Kerala government launched 'Jyothi', scheme to ensure that children of migrant workers get access to education. The scheme seeks to address the persistent educational marginalisation faced by this vulnerable group, many of whom miss out on formal schooling due to frequent relocation and poor access to public services.
Migrant workers form an integral part of Kerala's workforce, with over 35 lakh contributing across key sectors.
'Jyothi' will bring all migrant children aged three to six into anganwadis (government-run childcare centres) and integrate those aged six and above into public schools. The scheme also emphasises cultural and educational inclusion as part of a wider push for social integration and empowerment.
The enrolment drive is being implemented through a wide network of stakeholders, including representatives of local self-governments, Kudumbashree workers, schoolteachers, and parent-teacher associations, who will work together to locate and admit migrant children into local schools.
Cabinet Approves National Scheme for Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Upgradation
In a major step towards transforming vocational education in India, the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the National Scheme for Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Upgradation and the Setting up of five (5) National Centres of Excellence for Skilling as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
National Scheme for Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Upgradation and Setting up of five (5) National Centres of Excellence (NCOE) for Skilling will be implemented as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme as per announcement, made under Budget 2024-25 and Budget 2025-26 with outlay of Rs. 60,000 crore (Central Share: Rs. 30,000 crore, State Share: Rs. 20,000 crore and Industry Share: Rs. 10,000 crore), with co-financing to the extent of 50% of Central share by the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, equally.

Delhi Launches Mobile Registration Campaign for Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana
The Delhi government launched a 'Mobile Registration Campaign' under the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana, a major healthcare initiative for senior citizens aged 70 and above in the national Capital.
The scheme, part of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), promises free treatment of up to Rs. 10 lakh per beneficiary.
The Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana is a health insurance scheme offering cashless treatment. The costs of this scheme will be jointly borne by the Central and Delhi governments.
This scheme is universal for all residents of Delhi aged 70 and above, regardless of their social or economic background. However, the benefits are restricted to those who are native residents of Delhi and possess a valid Aadhaar card.
