Eighteen-year-old Kaamya Karthikeyan Becomes Youngest Indian to ski at South Pole

Eighteen-year-old Kaamya Karthikeyan scripted history by becoming the youngest Indian and the second-youngest woman in the world to ski to the South Pole. Her feat marks another milestone in a remarkable mountaineering and polar exploration journey that has already placed her among India's most accomplished young adventurers.
She covered a distance of 115 kilometres, facing temperatures as low as -30C and battling icy winds while pulling her own sled.
Karthikeyan, the daughter of a naval officer, received a warm congratulation from the Indian Navy for achieving the remarkable feat.

Manipur BJP MLA Becomes First Indian to Earn 5th Dan in Taekwondo

Yumnam Khemchand Singh, a former Manipur Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party MLA, has become the first Indian to receive the 5th Dan black belt in the traditional taekwondo art form. The certification was issued by a panel of six grand masters led by Jun Lee, president of the Global Traditional Taekwondo Federation (GTTF). The GTTF is the apex body for traditional taekwondo, separate from the World Taekwondo Federation’s sport rules. The achievement highlights growing interest in martial arts among Indian politicians and public figures, illustrating the blend of sports, culture, and public life in the region.

Bangladesh's First Female Prime Minister Khaleda Zia Dies

Bangladesh's first female Prime Minister Khaleda Zia died at the age of 80 in December 2025 after suffering from a prolonged illness.
Zia became Bangladesh's first female head of government in 1991 after leading her party to victory in the country's first democratic election in 20 years.
Zia first came into public attention as the wife of Bangladesh's former President Ziaur Rahman. Following his assassination in a 1981 military coup, Zia entered politics and later rose to lead the BNP.
After a second term in 1996 that lasted just a few weeks, Zia returned to the post of Prime Minister in 2001, stepping down in October 2006 ahead of a general election.
Her political career had been marred by corruption allegations and a long-standing political rivalry with Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted from premiership last year.

Former England Cricketer Hugh Morris Passes Away at 62

Former England cricketer Hugh Morris passed away at the age of 62 in December 2025. Morris was known both for his contributions on the field as a reliable opening batter and off the field as a respected cricket administrator.
Hugh Morris was a prominent figure in English county and international cricket during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He built a reputation as a technically sound opening batter and a natural leader, qualities that later shaped his administrative career.

Samriddhi Tripathy of Karnataka Crowned KIIT NanhiPari Little Miss India 2025

The grand finale of the Silver Jubilee edition of KIIT NanhiPari Little Miss India 2025 concluded on a dazzling note at the KIIT University campus with Samriddhi Tripathy of Karnataka being crowned the KIIT NanhiPari Little Miss India 2025 champion.
The glittering event was held in the esteemed presence of Femina Miss India World 2024 Nikita Porwal, 1st Runner-Up Rekha Pandey, and Nandini Gupta, Femina Miss India World 2023.
The first runner up title was won by Pranjal Sharma of Madhya Pradesh while P Prardhini of Telengana was adjudged the second runner up.

Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen Passes Away

Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen passed away in December 2025. He was 72.
He was serving as the Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assemblysince March 24, 2023. He was a four-time MLA representing the 56-Dharmanagar constituency in North Tripura.
Sen spent a significant portion of his career with the Congress (winning in 2008 and 2013) before joining the BJP in 2017. Sen also served as the Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly from 2018 to 2023. Earlier in his career, he was the Vice Chairman of the Dharmanagar Nagar Panchayat in 1988.
