The First Northeast India Organic Week Concludes

  • The first Northeast India Organic Week concluded on December 1, 2025. Hosted by Meghalaya, the four-day event aimed at positioning the state and the wider region as a strong competitor in the global organic market. The programme brought together international buyers, organic specialists and youth leaders to accelerate market access and highlight the region's biodiversity-driven produce.
  • The event was organised by the state agriculture department in partnership with APEDA, the Union commerce ministry and IFOAM-Organics Asia.
  • Delegations, importers and representatives from 13 countries, including Malaysia, Taiwan, Mongolia, New Zealand and Indonesia, attended the event. A major attraction was the APEDA buyer-seller meet, designed to foster direct engagement between producers and global markets looking for sustainable and certified organic products.

Tripura Signs Two Skill Development MoUs with IIT Delhi, Tata IIS

  • To enhance skill development of youth with emerging industry demands, the Tripura government signed two MoUs with IIT Delhi and Tata IIS.
  • These partnerships aim to train a total of 1,000 candidates in cutting-edge job roles aligned with emerging industry demands, thereby boosting local employment and reducing outmigration.
  • The first MoU, signed with IIT Delhi, will train 500 candidates in five futuristic job roles Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, and 5G technologies.
  • Under the second MoU, Tata IIS will train another 500 candidates in high-demand technical sectors such as industrial automation safety engineering, industrial robotic system integration, electric vehicle maintenance technician, CNC programming, and 3D printing operations.

India's Operation Sagar Bandhu in Sri Lanka

  • India launched Operation Sagar Bandhu, a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) initiative, to support Sri Lanka after Cyclone Ditwah triggered severe flooding, landslides and disruption across the island nation.
  • New Delhi launched the operation after the cyclone made landfall, causing widespread damage, claiming several lives and leaving thousands affected.
  • An Indian Air Force aircraft carrying around 12 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including tents, tarpaulins, blankets, hygiene kits, and ready-to-eat food items reached Colombo and delivered humanitarian aid.

Amaravati is First Integrated Financial City of the Country: Nirmala Sitharaman

  • Amaravati is set to emerge as the country's first integrated Financial City, marking a major milestone in India's economic and infrastructural development. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the initiative during her visit to the capital region, where she and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu laid foundations for major nationalised banks and financial institutions.
  • The new Financial City will house all major public sector financial institutions in one planned location. Sitharaman described this as a rare opportunity for banks to design state-of-the-art facilities in a capital being built from the ground up. Several nationalised banks have already begun construction, signalling the revival of Amaravati's long-pending development.

GeM Hosts 'Kreta Samvad' in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh (29)

  • The Ministry of Commerce and Industry organised the Government e-Marketplace 'Kreta Samvad' in November 2025 at Minto Hall, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The initiative aims to strengthen digital public procurement capabilities across State departments and enable buyer organisations to make more effective use of GeM's ecosystem, features and workflows.
  • The conclave highlighted opportunities for sellers and service providers on the GeM platform, offering streamlined access to buyers ranging from local entities to national-level procurement organisations.

PM to unveil Asia's Tallest statue of Lord Ram

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled Asia's tallest 77-feet bronze statue of Lord Ram at Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Mutt, in Canacona, South Goa.
  • Modi also launched a postal stamp by India Post and a coin by the Union ministry of finance to commemorate the completion of 550 years of the mutt.
  • The mutt is one of the oldest in the country and, over the years, has gained a reputation and respect from across the world, cutting across religions.
  • The statue has been crafted by celebrated sculptor Ram Sutar.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Annapurna Devi Launch 'Nayi Chetna 4.0' for Gender Equality and Women's...

  • Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, along with Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, inaugurated the fourth edition of 'Nayi Chetna – Initiative for Change'. This national campaign aims to foster gender equality and women's empowerment. On this occasion, Union Minister of State Kamlesh Paswan, Dr. Chandrashekhar Pemmasani, and Rural Development Secretary Shailesh Kumar Singh were also present.
  • At the event held at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, Sushma Swaraj Bhavan, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, Union Minister Shri Chouhan stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government is undertaking many concrete initiatives for the economic and social empowerment of women.

Assam Cabinet Approves Report on Scheduled Tribe Status for 6 Communities

  • In a significant move ahead of next year's Assembly elections, the Assam government approved the Group of Ministers (GoM) report recommending that the Centre grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to six communities of the state.
  • The decision comes amid sustained protests by these communities over their long-pending demand. If the Centre grants approval, Assam will be categorised as a tribal state.
  • The report will now be placed before the Assam Legislative Assembly and subsequently forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

Union Public Service Commission Organises 'Shatabdi Sammelan' as Part of Centenary Year Celebrations

  • The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), organised two days 'Shatabdi Sammelan' as a part of its centenary year celebrations. The Sammelan was held from November 26 and 27, 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions), was the Guest of Honour, along with other dignitaries.
  • The event brought together present and former Members and Chairpersons of UPSC and various State Public Service Commissions, senior government officials, and distinguished personalities from Government of India. The two-day Shatabdi Sammelan included a Conference 'Chintan' on the occasion of Constitution Day.

Andhra Pradesh to Get 3 New Districts; Total Rises to 29

  • The government of Andhra Pradesh approved the creation of three additional districts, increasing the total number of districts in the state from 26 to 29. The decision — cleared by N. Chandrababu Naidu on behalf of the state — also includes the formation of five new revenue divisions and a new mandal, reshaping the administrative map for better governance and local access to civic services.
  • New districts approved are Polavaram, Markapuram and Madanapalle.
  • New revenue divisions proposed are Nakkapalli (Anakapalli district), Addanki (Prakasam), Pileru (Madanapalle), Banaganapalle (Nandyal) and Madakasira (Sri Sathya Sai district).
  • The new to be formed is Pedda Harivanam, by bifurcating Adoni mandal in Kurnool district.
