Bar Council of England and Wales Hosts Family Law Symposium
The Bar Council of England and Wales, in collaboration with leading members of the Indian Bar, hosted a Family Law Symposium 2025 – Bridging Perspectives between England and Wales and India at Casuarina Hall, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
The Symposium brought together senior advocates, barristers, academics, and mediators from both jurisdictions to exchanged expertise and strengthen professional cooperation. Key discussion themes included:

Centre extends Attorney General R Venkataramani's Term by Two Years
Senior Advocate R Venkataramani reappointed as the Attorney General of India for a further two-year term, effective October 1, 2025. His current three-year tenure, which began in September 2022, ended this month. With this reappointment, Venkataramani will serve as the country's top law officer until September 30, 2027. The reappointment was confirmed by the Ministry of Law and Justice, underscoring the government's satisfaction with his counsel and leadership in legal matters of national importance.
The Attorney General of India (AGI) is the chief legal advisor to the Government of India and represents the state in legal proceedings, especially in the Supreme Court and High Courts.
It is a constitutional post, created under Article 76 of the Constitution. The AG is appointed by the President of India on the advice of the Union Cabinet.

BITS Law School, under the aegis of BITS Pilani, announced former Chief Justice of India, Justice UU Lalit as Honorary Professor of Law. Justice Lalit will be teaching an advanced course and will be involved in academic work at BITS Law School.
Justice Lalit will be teaching an advanced course on 'Affirmative Action under the Constitution of India and Other Jurisdictions'.

Centre Clears Appointment of Justice P. B. Bajanthri as Chief Justice of Patna High Court
The President of India appointed Justice P. B. Bajanthri as Chief Justice of Patna High Court.
Justice Bajanthri was serving as a Judge of the Patna High Court prior to this elevation.
He enrolled as advocate in 1990 and practiced in Karnataka High Court, KAT, CAT and Educational Authorities.
During 1993-94, he appeared as a KPSC Standing Counsel. He was appointed as Notary by the Government of India in May 2006.

Justice M Sundar Appointed Chief Justice of Manipur High Court
The Central government, in September 2025, appointed Justice M. Sundar as the next Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
He assumed charge of the office in September 2025, following the retirement of the then Manipur High Court Chief Justice, Justice Kempaiah Somashekar.
Justice Sundar was the second senior-most judge of the Madras High Court.
