Makemytrip Inks Pact With Vietnam's Sun Hospitality to Expand Offerings

  • Amid a sharp rise in tourist inflows to Vietnam, online travel platform MakeMyTrip in September 2025, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sun Hospitality & Entertainment Group (SHE), one of Vietnam's leading players in the hospitality and entertainment sector.
  • Jasmeet Singh, chief commercial officer, Holidays & Experiences at MakeMyTrip, said that Vietnam became one of the most sought-after destinations for Indian travellers, with demand for holiday packages and experiences growing year after year.
  • Through the association, MakeMyTrip aims to include the best of Vietnam's resorts, hotels, and world-class attractions into its itineraries, giving Indian travellers a richer and more immersive holiday experience.

Tamil Nadu inks MoU with France's Centre-Val de Loire

  • The Tamil Nadu government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with France's Centre-Val de Loire at the Secretariat Chennai in September 2025 for cultural exchange and efforts to boost tourism.
  • The MoU was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and France's Consul General in Puducherry and Chennai Etienne Rolland-Piegue.
  • The understanding was aimed at facilitating the easy exchange, travel and associations of artists, cultural organisations and establishments between Tamil Nadu and Centre-Val de Loire.
  • Exchanging experiences and best practices in the tourism sector and public policy, conservation of traditional knowledge, practices in archaeology, and maintaining museums would be among the common areas of interest.

Bahraich's Karikot Village Gets Tourism Award for 'Inclusivity'

  • Karikot, a border village in UP's Bahraich district, honoured with the Indian Subcontinent Responsible Tourism Award 2025 under the category of 'Peace, Understanding and Inclusivity.'
  • The award was presented at the Business Leisure Travel and MICE Conclave 2025 held in Delhi.
  • Uttarakhand Tourism Minister Satyapal Maharaj presented the award to Chief Development Officer (CDO) Bahraich Mukesh Chand, Village Development Officer (VDO) Sushil Singh, and Gram Pradhan Parvati Devi, who received the honour on behalf of the community.
  • The recognition came under the framework of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT), acknowledging Karikot's exemplary efforts in promoting sustainable and inclusive rural tourism.
  • Situated beside the Katarniaghat landscape near the confluence of the Gerua and Kauriala rivers, Karikot has developed homestays, culture-rich walks, local cuisine experiences, and women-led turmeric value chains that welcome visitors while strengthening household incomes and social cohesion.
  • The village represents a unique example of inclusivity, where the Tharu community, along with Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim families, has joined hands to develop rural tourism in a sustainable and collective manner.
