SEBI Bags 'Best Conduct of Business Regulator' Award by the Asian Banker
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) was given 'Best Conduct of Business Regulator' award in Asia Pacific by the Asian Banker for its role in enhancing the regulatory framework for securities markets in India. The award was received by SEBI's Whole Time Member Kamlesh Chandra Varshney in a ceremony held in Hong Kong.

C-DOT Wins UN's WSIS 2024 'Champion' Award
The Ministry of Communication informed that Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Government of India was awarded UN's WSIS 2024'Champion' Award for the project "Mobile-Enabled Disaster Resilience through Cell Broadcast emergency Alerting", recognised under AI, C-7, E-environment, in the category of 'Benefits in all aspects of life – E-environment.
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 Forum 2024, a High-Level Event, conducted by International Telecom Union (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland, recognised the project of C-DOT's Cell Broadcast Emergency Alerting Platform for its outstanding contribution towards strengthening the implementation of the WSIS outcomes and underscores C-DOT's commitment to leveraging technology for societal impact.

Indian American Bruhat Soma Wins 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee
Bruhat Soma, a 12-year-old Indian-American student, won the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee competition at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. He correctly spelt 29 words in the tiebreaker round. The Class 7 student recited a Shloka from Bhagavad Gita.
In the Spelling Bee contest, Bruhat Soma defeated Faizan Zaiki, who could only spell 20 words in the lightning round. After winning the competition, he said it was "a dream come true" moment.
NIMHANS Institute Receives Nelson Mandela Award from WHO
National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India was awarded with the Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion for 2024 by the World Health Organization (WHO).
NIMHANS director Dr. Pratima Murthy received the award during the plenary meeting of the 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, in the presence of WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Established by WHO in 2019, the Nelson Mandela Award for Health Promotion acknowledges individuals, institutions, and organizations that have made significant contributions to health promotion.
