Renowned artist Himmat Shah died at the age of 92.
Shah studied under artist-educator Jagubhai Shah at Gharshala in Gujarat. He went on to study at MS University, Baroda, but he didn't complete his diploma on account of the requirements of a Central ministry scholarship. He also received a French government scholarship in 1967 on the recommendation of poet-diplomat Octavio Paz.

Gene Hackman, an Oscar-winning actor renowned for his versatility, passed away at the age of 95. Hackman was one of Hollywood's most respected and honoured performers, known for portraying both reluctant heroes and complex villains. His career spanned several decades, with iconic roles in films like The French Connection, Unforgiven, Superman, Bonnie and Clyde, and The Royal Tenenbaums. Despite his immense success, he remained a private individual, avoiding Hollywood's social scene.

Boris Spassky Passes Away
Boris Spassky, the 10th world champion of chess, passed away, FIDE announced. He was 88. He became the world champion after defeating Tigran Petrosian and then famously lost in the Match of the Century against Bobby Fischer in 1972 at Iceland's Reykjavík.
Spassky was a chess prodigy who went on to become a Grandmaster at the age of 18 and was known as one of the most talented players of his generation.
What was remarkable about him was that he played for France in his latter years. Spassky played seven times at the Chess Olympiad for the Soviet team (between 1962 to 1978). Then in 1976, Spassky immigrated to France and became a French citizen two years later. Then, he competed for France in three Olympiads (1984–1988). He became a Russian citizen again in 2013.

Renowned Gujarati Poet and Essayist Anil Joshi Passes Away
Renowned Gujarati poet and essayist Anil Joshi, known for his works such as Kadach and Statue, and for returning his 1990 Sahitya Akademi award to protest attacks on literary writers in 2015, passed away.
Joshi's first poem was published in 1962, in a Gujarati cultural magazine, Kumar, while he was still in college. The poem was about nature, and was well appreciated. He published his first Gujarati poetry collection titled Kadach in 1970, following which he migrated to Mumbai. He worked as a documentation expert for the Commerce Weekly.

Legendary Odissi Dancer Mayadhar Raut Passes Away
Renowned Odissi maestro Mayadhar Raut, often referred to as the "Father of Odissi dance," passed away at the age of 92.
He was instrumental in the revival and codification of Odissi dance in the 1950s. His contributions, including the introduction of Sanchari Bhava, Mudra Viniyoga, and Rasa Theory, helped shape Odissi into a structured classical dance form.
Mayadhar Raut was honoured with many awards, such as the Padma Shri (2010), Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1985), Sahitya Kala Parishad Award (1984) and the Odissi Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1977).
