Samriddhi Tripathy of Karnataka Crowned KIIT NanhiPari Little Miss India 2025

  • The grand finale of the Silver Jubilee edition of KIIT NanhiPari Little Miss India 2025 concluded on a dazzling note at the KIIT University campus with Samriddhi Tripathy of Karnataka being crowned the KIIT NanhiPari Little Miss India 2025 champion.
  • The glittering event was held in the esteemed presence of Femina Miss India World 2024 Nikita Porwal, 1st Runner-Up Rekha Pandey, and Nandini Gupta, Femina Miss India World 2023.
  • The first runner up title was won by Pranjal Sharma of Madhya Pradesh while P Prardhini of Telengana was adjudged the second runner up.

Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen Passes Away

  • Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen passed away in December 2025. He was 72.
  • He was serving as the Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assemblysince March 24, 2023. He was a four-time MLA representing the 56-Dharmanagar constituency in North Tripura.
  • Sen spent a significant portion of his career with the Congress (winning in 2008 and 2013) before joining the BJP in 2017. Sen also served as the Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly from 2018 to 2023. Earlier in his career, he was the Vice Chairman of the Dharmanagar Nagar Panchayat in 1988.

Hindi writer Vinod Kumar Shukla passes away at 89

Eminent Hindi author Vinod Kumar Shukla, a Jnanpith Award recipient, died at AIIMS Raipur at the age of 89. A distinctive voice in contemporary Hindi literature, Shukla blended simplicity with depth in poetry, novels and short stories, often using magical realism to explore human conditions. His work drew on everyday experiences while offering existential insights that elevated the ordinary. Among his honours, he received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1999 for Deewar Mein Ek Khirkee Rehti Thi. In 2025, he became the first writer from Chhattisgarh to win India’s highest literary honour, the Jnanpith Award. His passing has prompted condolences from readers, peers and public figures alike.

Veteran Assamese Actress Ranjana Sharma Bordoloi Passes Away

Ranjana Sharma Bordoloi, a prominent Assamese actress from the 1960s and 1970s, died in Dibrugarh at the age of 80. She acted in notable films including Dr Bezbarua (1969), Kokadeuta Nati aru Hati (1983), and Maniram Dewan (1964). A dancer skilled in Bharatnatyam, Bordoloi helped shape Assam’s cultural landscape and worked with directors such as Bhupen Hazarika. She co-founded the theatre group Mancharupa in 1957 and participated in radio plays for All India Radio. Her contributions to cinema and culture were recognized with state honours, including the Bishnu Rabha Award.

Former Maharashtra Minister Shalinitai Patil Passes Away at 94

Shalinitai Patil, a veteran politician and former Maharashtra minister, died at the age of 94. She was the wife of former Chief Minister Vasantdada Patil and served in various Congress governments during the 1980s. Patil rose from a Satara district council member to president of the party’s women’s wing, and she represented Sangli in the Lok Sabha as well as Koregaon in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. Yatin Oza Elected President of Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association

Senior Advocate Yatin Oza was elected president of the Gujarat High Court Advocates’ Association (GHCAA) for the 19th time, continuing a long leadership stint. He first became president in 1994 at age 35. The December 2025 election included five candidates. Oza has served as vice president six times and secretary once. The GHCAA coordinates the activities of Gujarat’s high court lawyers and represents their interests in professional matters and advocacy initiatives.
