Andhra Pradesh CM Launches Deepam 2.0 Scheme for Women

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu visited Edupuram in Srikakulam district to launch the Deepam 2.0 scheme, aimed at empowering women by providing them with free gas cylinders. During his visit, Naidu personally handed over a gas cylinder to a beneficiary, Santhamma, and even lit her stove, preparing tea as a gesture of support for the initiative.
The scheme aims to empower women by providing free access to clean cooking energy. Women will receive three free gas cylinders per year under the scheme. The initiative is part of Naidu's broader efforts to improve living conditions in Andhra Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh Boosts Veterinary Services with New Policy

The Uttar Pradesh government announced a new policy to enhance veterinary services by introducing diploma and certificate courses in animal husbandry and para-veterinary medicine. This decision, taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aims to address the shortage of veterinarians in the state, where only 8,193 are available compared to the national total of about 34,500. By training more para-veterinarians, the government seeks to empower rural communities with essential animal health services, addressing the challenges posed by the current lack of resources and adequate training.
Animal Husbandry Minister Dharampal Singh emphasised the critical role of para-veterinarians in rural areas, where they often perform tasks like vaccination and first aid under the supervision of veterinarians due to a limited number of licensed professionals. The new policy will facilitate the training of para-vets in various aspects of animal health care, thereby improving the quality of services provided in rural communities.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan Inaugurates Thottiyar Hydroelectric Scheme

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the 40-megawatt (MW) Thottiyar Hydroelectric scheme in Idukki. According to officials, the speciality of the Thottiyar project is the low quantity of water needed for power generation. The expected annual power generation here is 99 million units. During the trial run, the project generated 173 million units of electricity.
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) installed the 'Run For River' system for the project. The water from Deviyar, the stream connecting to Periyar, is used for the Thottiyar power project.

Rajasthan Government Launches Scheme to Lure Investments

To encourage private investment and boost economic growth, the Rajasthan government launched the 'Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme (RIPS) 2024.' This new flagship initiative is designed to provide enhanced financial incentives across a broader range of sectors. The introduction of RIPS came just ahead of the 'Rising Rajasthan' Global Investment Summit 2024.
RIPS 2024 extends support to emerging areas (sunrise sectors) such as Aero & Space, Defence, Drones, Semiconductors, Agri-Tech, and Waste Recycling.

Government to Extend UDAN Scheme for 10 More Years: Transforming India's Aviation Landscape

Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu declared that the government will extend the UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme for an additional 10 years. The decision, made during a special event celebrating eight years of the scheme, reinforces the government's commitment to enhancing regional air connectivity and making air travel accessible to every citizen of India.
The UDAN scheme, launched on October 21, 2016, has been instrumental in not only boosting regional airlines but also creating thousands of jobs and significantly contributing to the growth of tourism across India. With 601 air routes and 71 operationalised airports under the scheme, UDAN has drastically improved air travel infrastructure in underserved and remote regions.
One of the most significant impacts of the UDAN scheme has been the growth of regional airlines, particularly in smaller cities and remote locations where air travel was previously limited or non-existent. The scheme's emphasis on low-cost travel has allowed airlines to offer affordable airfares, thus making flying a feasible option for millions of citizens who were earlier confined to surface transport.

Mission Basundhara 3.0: Assam's Push for Indigenous Land Rights

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially launched Mission Basundhara 3.0 at an event held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, in 2024. This ambitious initiative is designed to empower indigenous communities by providing them with formal land rights, ensuring greater security and recognition of their holdings.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasised the government's commitment to granting land rights to indigenous communities, an effort undertaken after 75 years of independence.
He noted that Mission Basundhara was launched on October 2, 2021, with the vision of providing land rights.
Under Mission Basundhara 1.0, the state government disposed of eight lakh applications in nine months.
The second edition, Mission Basundhara 2.0, launched in November 2022, granted land rights to over two lakh indigenous people within one year.
