Avantel wins DRDO satellite terminal contract

Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar becomes 48th Vice Chief of Naval Staff

Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar assumed charge as the 48th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff on 29 May 2026. After taking over, he laid a wreath at the National War Memorial to pay homage to fallen servicemen. The appointment reinforces the Indian Navy's senior leadership with extensive operational experience and strategic outlook. Prior to this assignment, Kochhar commanded major fleets and held senior staff roles, contributing to naval modernisation, maritime security, and joint operations with other services.
