Women in Aviation India (WAD held its third edition of the iconic Awards - Giving Wings to Dreams 2024 at Roseate House New Delhi, felicitating 37 women achievers who have contributed significantly to the aviation sector. The award ceremony took place in the distinguished presence of Vumlunmang Vualnam, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India and other eminent dignitaries.
These Awards recognise excellence in diverse fields of aviation and help build a value chain where achievers inspire the next generation.

Tourism Ministry Sanctions Funds for Development of 40 Lesser-known Sites

The Union Ministry of Tourism approved 40 projects under the Special Assistance to States/Union Territories for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme, designed to develop lesser-known destinations into iconic tourist sites. The projects, costing Rs. 3295.76 crore, span 23 states and aim to enhance tourism, create employment opportunities, and boost local economies, Union minister for tourism and culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, said.
As part of the SASCI scheme, 40 sites were identified by the Centre, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj museum in Ponda, Goa, Loktak lake experience in Manipur, and the international convention centre for MICE in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The implementation of the projects will be handled by the respective state governments that will also oversee the operation and management of the infrastructure.

The 12th Edition of the International Tourism Mart (ITM), in Kaziranga in Assam was inaugurated by Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in presence of Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sharma and Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu.
Kaziranga in Assam is a region renowned for its diverse topography, rich flora and fauna, vibrant ethnic communities, ancient traditions, festivals, and abundant arts and crafts. The Kaziranga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to the majestic one-horned rhino.

UN Lists Chhattisgarh's Bastar Village as Tourism Destination

A small village in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district, Dhudmaras was selected by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) for its Best Tourism Village Upgrade programme, highlighting its potential for sustainable tourism development.
This recognition marks its potential as a hub for eco-tourism and sustainable development.
Dhudmaras was selected from more than 260 applications from more than 60 countries for the Upgrade programme because of a clear demonstration of its cultural and natural richness and high potential to become an outstanding example as a top-tier rural destination.
