Air Commodore Sahu Takes Command of Base Repair Depot in Tughlakabad

  • Air Commodore Debakinandan Sahu took charge as the Air Officer Commanding of the Base Repair Depot (BRD) in Tughlakabad, succeeding Air Commodore Rishi Seth. The formal handover occurred during a ceremonial parade by depot personnel, marking the transition.
  • Throughout his service, he has held pivotal positions, including Chief Engineering Officer at a premier Air Force base and staff roles at Operational Command Headquarters and Air Headquarters. His contributions to the IAF were recognised with the Vishisht Seva Medal, awarded by the President of India in January 2023.
  • The Base Repair Depot in Tughlakabad plays a critical role in maintaining and upgrading IAF's operational capabilities.

LSAM 22 Joins Indian Navy Fleet

  • Induction ceremony of eighth Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile (ACTCM) Barge, LSAM 22 (Yard 132) was held at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai. Chief Guest for the Induction Ceremony was Cmde Vinay Venkataram, Officer-in-Charge, Fleet Maintenance Unit (Mbi).
  • The contract for construction and delivery of eleven ACTCM Barges was concluded with M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt. Ltd., Thane, a MSME Shipyard. Seven ACTCM Barges have already been delivered and the shipyard has also been awarded a contract for construction and delivery of four Sullage Barges to the Indian Navy thereby highlighting the Indian Navy's commitment towards encouraging MSMEs.   • The Shipyard has indigenously designed these Barges in collaboration with an Indian Ship Designing firm and subsequently model tested at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory, Visakhapatnam, successfully to ensure seaworthiness. These barges are built in accordance with the relevant Naval Rules and Regulations of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). These Barges are proud flag bearers of Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives of Government of India.

Shah Launches CBI's 'Bharatpol' to Make it Easy for Police, Agencies to Seek Interpol Help

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched 'Bharatpol' portal developed by the CBI that allows state police and other central law enforcement agencies real-time information sharing for faster access to international police assistance through Interpol.
  • The need to develop rapid and real-time international assistance in criminal investigations was felt due to the growing footprint of transnational crimes including cyber-crime, financial crimes, online radicalisation, organised crimes, drug trafficking, human trafficking etc.

Goa Shipyard Ltd Launches Two Indigenous Fast Patrol Vessels for Indian Coast Guard

  • Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) concurrently launched two indigenously designed and constructed Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) for the Indian Coast Guard.
  • The launch marks a historic chapter in GSL's ambitious journey towards technological and operational excellence.
  • Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, CMD, GSL, highlighted the Shipyard's impressive growth trajectory, which has seen a remarkable 100 per cent increase in Gross Revenue, crossing the Rs. 2,000 Crore threshold.
  • The two vessels, Amulya and Akshay, were launched ceremoniously by Vandana Agrawal in the presence of Sanjeev Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Defence Production).

French Carrier Strike Group Makes Stopovers in Goa, Kochi as Part of Mission CLEMENCEAU 25

  • The French carrier strike group (CSG), led by the aircraft carrier FNS Charles de Gaulle, made port calls at Goa and Kochi, as part of Mission CLEMENCEAU 25.
  • Currently deployed in the Indian Ocean, the CSG is conducting joint training with regional allies, including India, ahead of its participation in multinational exercises such as La Perouse in the Indonesian zone and Pacific Steller in the Pacific Ocean.
  • During Mission CLEMENCEAU 25, the Charles de Gaulle CSG and Indian navy ships will take part in the 42nd annual Varuna bilateral exercise. The aim of this aero-naval training is to develop interoperability between our two navies, and to prepare crews to deal with a multi-milieu threat (air, surface, submarine) as part of a coalition.
