The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, selected 45 teachers for this year's (2025) National Teachers' Awards, to be conferred on September 5, 2025. The awardee teachers were selected through a rigorous, transparent and online process in three stages, i.e., District, State and National level selection process, by the Department of School Education and Literacy.
The 45 selected teachers are from 27 States, 7 UTs and 6 Organisations. Out of 45 selected teachers, 24 are males, 21 are female.

Kanimozhi to Receive Prestigious Periyar Award
At the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (DMK) Mupperum Vizha celebrations in Karur on September 17, MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi will be conferred the Periyar Award in recognition of her contributions to the Dravidian movement.
The award, named after rationalist leader E. V. Ramasamy "Periyar", has historically been given to those who embody the ideals of social reform, rationalism, and resistance to oppression. By selecting Kanimozhi, the DMK signals both recognition of her personal political trajectory and the continuation of the movement's ideological legacy.

Godwin Asediba Wins the 2025 BBC Komla Dumor Award
Ghanaian journalist Godwin Asediba has won the 2025 BBC News Komla Dumor Award.
The investigative reporter, filmmaker and news anchor, who is the 10th recipient of the accolade, works with TV3 and 3FM in Ghana. His stories have also appeared on several international broadcasters.
Asediba often focuses on human-interest stories aiming to expose injustice and amplify the voices of marginalised communities.
The award, now a decade old, was created to honour Dumor, a Ghanaian journalist and presenter for BBC World News, who died in 2014.

Salah Wins PFA Player of the Year Award
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah was named the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year, with the Egyptian becoming the first player to win the award three times.
Salah, who joined Liverpool in 2017, was the Premier League's top scorer last season, with his 29 goals, along with 18 assists, playing a key role in the club winning the league title, finishing 10 points ahead of runners-up Arsenal.
Salah had already clinched the Premier League Player of the Season award, the Golden Boot for most goals scored and the Playmaker award for most assists, making him the first player to win all three awards in the same season.
