BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting in Varanasi

India's Ministry of Culture announced that the 2nd BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting will be held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on 4–5 June 2026. Telangana Formation Day observed on 2 June; formation in 2014

Telangana Formation Day is celebrated on 2 June each year to mark the creation of Telangana as India's 29th state. Telangana officially came into existence on 2 June 2014, carved out of Andhra Pradesh through the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. Parliament passed the Act in February 2014, and Hyderabad was designated as the joint capital for a transitional period. The formation followed a long regional movement for identity, development and water-resource governance. Since its creation, Telangana has emerged as a fast-growing state with strengths in information technology, agriculture and industry. The observance reflects the state's journey and its ongoing development priorities.

75th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle to mark Commonwealth Games Day nationwide

India's Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will organise the 75th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle to celebrate Commonwealth Games Day nationwide. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will lead the celebrations from Ahmedabad on 24 May. The initiative aims to deepen public engagement with cycling, fitness, and health while linking to India’s hosting of the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The cycling drive will span more than 8,000 locations across the country and include a Commonwealth Games-themed exhibition in Ahmedabad. Officials emphasize sport as a nationwide movement and a step toward long-term Olympic ambitions.
