Pepperfry Co-founder Ambareesh Murty Dies

Ambareesh Murty, the co-founder of Pepperfry, online marketplace for furniture and home decor, passed away, the company's second co-founder Ashish Shah announced.
He died due to cardiac arrest in Leh. The 51-year-old was a bike enthusiast and was on a motorcycle trip from Mumbai to Leh. He founded Pepperfry in 2011 and was its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
He was an alumnus of IIT Calcutta, 1996 batch and completed his Bachelors in Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering in 1994. He called himself a closet sociopath on his X profile, and professed a love for history reading epic fantasies.

Padma Bhushan Awardee and IAS officer N Vittal Passes Away

The Padma Bhushan awardee and IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, 1960 batch, N Vittal passed away in Chennai.
With the passing of N Vittal, 85, former Telecom Secretary and Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) on Thursday, the country has lost the person who had sown the seeds for the growth of the information technology sector four decades ago.

As of August 2023, the world's richest woman is Francoise Bettencourt Meyers with the estimated net worth of $90.4 billion, followed by Alice Walton, Julia Koch and Jacqueline Mars.
The world's Billionaires List or Real-Time Billionaires list is an annual ranking of the world's wealthiest billionaires based on their recorded net worth. It is produced and published by Forbes Magazine every March.
The first edition of this ranking was published in 1987.
The net total worth of each person is approximated on the basis of their reported assets and accounting for debt and other considerations. The ranking published the net total worth of each person in US dollar. These rankings do not include royalty or dictators whose wealth is derived from their status.

Young Rider Shreyas Hareesh Dies in Racing Incident

Copparam Shreyas Hareesh, a 13-year-old promising rider from Bengaluru, succumbed to injuries he suffered following a crash in the third round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2023 at the Madras International Circuit here on Saturday.
The incident occurred soon after the start of the Rookie race for which he had qualified in pole position this morning. Exiting turn one, Shreyas fell following a crash and suffered a grievous head injury.
The race was red-flagged immediately, and he was rushed to a nearby hospital in a trauma care ambulance stationed at the track.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. His father, Copparam Hareesh, was at his bedside.
Born on July 26, 2010, Shreyas, a student of Kensri School in Bengaluru, had won several races at the National-level, including four in a row, competing in the Rookie category of the Petronas TVS One-Make Championship this season.

Noted Marathi Poet Namdeo Dhondo Mahanor Passes Away

Noted Marathi poet and lyricist Namdeo Dhondo Mahanor, popularly known as Na Dho Mahanor, passed away in Maharashtra's Pune. He was 81.
Born in 1942, Namdeo Dhondo Mahanor was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award. He had also been a member of the state legislative council.
He penned several popular poems and songs, including "Jagala Prem Arpave", "Ganga Wahu De Nirmal" and "Divelaganichi Vel", and also wrote songs for Marathi movies like "Ek Hota Vidushak", "Jait Re Jait", "Sarja" and others.

Bollywood Art Director Nitin Desai Dies

Renowned art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai has passed away at the age of 57.
The art director has also won National Film Award for Best Art Direction four times for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (1999), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (2000), Lagaan (2002) and Devdas (2003).
The four-time National Award winner for art direction also created sets for Slumdog Millionaire and Kaun Banega Crorepati. Some of the most notable Bollywood movies that he worked for were Jodhaa Akbar, Munnabhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai.

Congress Leader and Former Kerala Speaker Vakkom Purushothaman Passes Away

Veteran Congress leader and former Kerala Speaker Vakkom Purushothaman, who also served as Governor of Mizoram, passed away. He was 96.
Purushothaman, entered politics as a Students' Congress activist in 1946 and rose to become a state minister, Assembly Speaker, Governor of Mizoram and also Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands during his career spanning nearly seven decades.
Purushothaman, who was known for his administrative skills and strictness, was a cabinet minister in the Kerala government from 1971-1977, 1980 to 1981 and 2004 to 2006.
He was the Speaker of the Kerala legislative assembly from 1982-1984 and then 2001-2004.
