Tripura Emblem Gets MHA Nod

  • The Centre approved an emblem or logo for the Tripura government, as was proposed by the state, CM Manik Saha said. He added that it would highlight the culture and history of the state.
  • The emblem has the national emblem of India within the outline of the map of Tripura, and the map is placed inside a saffron circle. It also has Government of Tripura written below the circle.

For the First Time, Andaman's 'Primitive' Jarawa Tribe Members Feature in Voter List

  • In a historic step, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration enrolled and distributed voter ID cards to 19 members of the Jarawa community, earlier known as ferocious and reclusive.
  • Chief Secretary Chandra Bhushan Kumar himself handed over voter ID cards to the members of the Jarawa tribe, also one of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, at their settlement in Jirkatang in South Andaman district.

V. Narayanan Succeeds Somanath at ISRO

  • The Centre appointed V. Narayanan as the new chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation and Secretary, Department of Space. Narayanan will take over from S. Somanath, the current head of the organisation, on January 14.
  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet said that Narayanan, who is the head of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), Valiamala, will have a tenure of two years.
  • Narayanan, a distinguished Scientist at the ISRO, has nearly four decades of experience and has held various key positions within the Indian space organisation.

'Panchayat Se Parliament 2.0': Empowering Women Leaders

  • The National Commission for Women (NCW), in collaboration with the Lok Sabha Secretariat and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, inaugurated 'Panchayat Se Parliament 2.0' at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan. This initiative commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a revered tribal leader and freedom fighter.
  • The event brought together 502 elected women representatives from Scheduled Tribes across 22 states and Union Territories.
  • The primary aim is to empower these women by enhancing their understanding of constitutional provisions, parliamentary procedures, and governance, thereby fostering effective leadership.
  • The program included workshops, sessions, and guided tours of significant government sites such as the new Parliament House, Samvidhan Sadan, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, and Rashtrapati Bhawan.
  • Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla inaugurated the event and led the delegates in reading the Preamble to the Constitution of India.

  • For a family in Manipur, the birth of a baby was not just a New Year gift but a moment in India's history. At a hospital in the north-eastern state's capital Aizawl, the first baby in the country from the so-called 'Generation Beta' was born.
  • Generation Beta is the name given to those born in 2025, which will mark the beginning of a new generation that follows Gen Z.

Faiz Ahmed Kidwai New DGCA DG

  • IAS officer Faiz Ahmed Kidwai was appointed the chief of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as part of a senior-level bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Centre.
  • The 1996-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre is currently Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
  • He was appointed as Director General in the DGCA "in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India by keeping the Recruitment Rules of the post in abeyance"The ACC has also approved the appointment of Ashutosh Agnihotri, a 1999-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Food Corporation of India.

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh Inaugurates North-eastern States Meet on Pradhan Mantri Matsya ...

  • The Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying organised a "North-eastern Region States Meet to review the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana" at Hotel Radission, Guwahati, Assam under chairmanship of Union Minister, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying (MoFAH&D) and Ministry of Panchayati Raj. This event was conducted in hybrid mode.
  • The Union Minister, Department of Fisheries, MoFAH&D, inaugurated and laid the foundation for key projects amounting to about Rs. 50 crore under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), underscoring the Government's commitment to advancing and targeting the self sustained fisheries sector in the North-eastern Region. Certificates were distributed to fisheries beneficiaries of Northeast Region on this occasion, including NFDP registration certificates, KCC cards, awards for the Best FFPOs and Fisheries Start-ups.

IIT Madras Collaborates with Agriculture Ministry on Project VISTAAR

Hari Babu Kambhampati Takes Oath as Odisha Governor

  • Babu Kambhampati was sworn in as the 27th governor of Odisha during a function at the Raj Bhavan.
  • Orissa High Court Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh administered the oath of office to Kambhampati in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, state ministers, MLAs, MPs, BJP leaders and other dignitaries.
  • Kambhampati succeeded Raghubar Das, who resigned from the post.
  • Kambhampati is the former governor of Mizoram.
