National Education Society for Tribal Students Celebrates 7th Foundation Day

  • The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) proudly commemorated its 7th Foundation Day celebrating its unwavering dedication to the education and empowerment of tribal students across India. Established in year 2019 under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, NESTS has been instrumental in transforming the educational landscape for tribal communities through the administration of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS).
  • The event, held at Akashwani Bhavan, was graced by Jual Oram, Minister of Tribal Affairs along with Durgadas Uikey, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Antar Singh Arya, Chairman, National Commission for Schedule Tribes (NCST) and dignitaries from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, educationists, and key stakeholders of EMRS.

  • The India Research Conclave 2025, hosted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, marked a significant milestone in advancing research excellence, fostering collaboration, and reinforcing research integrity in India. Powered by Springer Nature, the conclave brought together leading academics, researchers, policymakers, and industry experts to deliberate on key challenges and opportunities shaping India's research landscape.
  • With a strong emphasis on research integrity, innovation, and inclusivity, the event featured keynote addresses from distinguished speakers from the government, academia, and research organisations. Discussions underscored India's role in shaping the global research agenda and the importance of ethical and sustainable scientific progress.

Cyber Commandos Being Trained at IIT Madras

  • IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation successfully trained the inaugural batch of Cyber Commandos, a training course aimed at giving law enforcement officials advanced cybersecurity capabilities. The programme is focused on bolstering India's cybersecurity and improving the law enforcement's ability to combat cyber crimes.
  • An initiative of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the 'Cyber Commandos' programme envisages creating a specialised force and is a critical step in bolstering India's cyber defence capabilities.
  • A formal valedictory function for 37 trained officers was conducted on April 1, 2025, at IIT Madras. Senior officers like Dr Sandeep Mittal, IPS, ADGP (Cyber Crime Wing), Tamil Nadu, Dr. Shankar Ram, CEO, and Mr. Balamurali Shankar, Chief Knowledge Officer, Pravartak attended the function.

Indian University Signs MoU with American University for Research Opportunities

  • Delhi Technological University (DTU) and the University of Houston (UH) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to intensify academic and research collaboration. The agreement will be extended in 2030, if needed, with the view of facilitating knowledge exchange, collaborative research, and increased opportunities for students.
  • Under this collaboration, UH and DTU will engage in collaborative educational and research activities. Scholars and faculty will be able to participate in research exchanges, exchange academic publications, and work together on scholarly projects.

NITI Aayog Organises National Workshop on "Internationalisation of Higher Education in India: Cha...

  • A one-day National Workshop on 'Internationalisation of Higher Education in India', was organised by the Education Division of NITI Aayog, as a part of the NITI–State workshop series, an initiative under the State Support Mission, and in collaboration with its knowledge partners, IIT Madras, Association of Indian Universities (AIU), and Acumen at the IIT Madras campus in Chennai.
  • The workshop brought together officers from the Centre, State and UT Governments, Institutions of National Importance, Central Universities, State Public Universities, Private Universities, Deemed Universities, International Universities, and representatives from several countries and deliberated on challenges, best practices and policy interventions for implementing internationalisation initiatives in Indian higher education at the systemic and institutional levels as envisioned in the National Education Policy 2020.

NFRA and IIT Kanpur Jointly Organise a Hackathon on Large Language Models (LLM) and Generative AI

  • The National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur jointly organised a Hackathon to encourage students to build cutting-edge solutions using Large Language Models (LLM) and Generative AI.
  • The objective of the Hackathon was to demonstrate democratising complex financial statements so that financial information is more readable and understandable, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs said.
  • The challenge given was to transform financial data into clear, engaging stories to enable well informed decisions. The hackathon tried to address the challenge, leveraging GenAI. Teams attempted transformative solutions to simplify financial statements and unlock deeper insights.

IIM Ahmedabad to Launch First International Campus in Dubai by September 2025

  • The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) organised its 60th convocation at the Louis Kahn Plaza. While announcing the new campus, IIMA Director Professor Bharat Bhasker revealed that the institute's first international campus would open in Dubai in September 2025. This will make IIMA the first of the Indian Institute of Management to go international.
  • The convocation also saw the launch of the Madan Mohanka Centre of Excellence in Case Method of Learning, sponsored by industrialist and IIMA alumnus Madan Mohanka from the PGP 1967 batch. The center is aimed at strengthening the case study method of instruction.'
  • Professor and ex-chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Dr S Somanath was the guest of honour for the day. He conferred degrees on more than 1,200 students on four programmes.

  • Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan inaugurated Techkriti 2025, Asia's largest intercollegiate technical and entrepreneurial festival, at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. The event serves as a hub for technological innovation, bringing together scholars, industry experts, and defence personnel to explore advancements in cutting-edge technology. During a Fireside Chat, Gen Chauhan emphasised the importance of modernising the Indian Armed Forces by integrating Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Quantum Computing, and Cognitive Warfare. He encouraged young innovators to contribute to national security and technological self-reliance.
  • The theme of the event "Panta Rhei" (Everything Flows) – symbolises the continuous evolution of technology and innovation.

IIT-Mandi, NSDC, NCU Launch BTech in Semiconductor Design & Technology

  • The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), IIT Mandi, and The NorthCap University (NCU), Gurugram, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) with a specialisation in Semiconductor Design and Technology. The agreement was formally signed at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi.
  • This partnership aims to address the rising demand for skilled professionals in India's semiconductor industry by equipping students with industry-relevant knowledge and hands-on training.
  • The four-year program is structured into eight semesters.

IIM Bodh Gaya Launches New Online Executive MBA Courses

  • The Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (IIM Bodh Gaya) introduced an Online Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programme in partnership with TeamLease EdTech. The new programme is designed for mid-to-senior-level professionals. The two-year programme aims to equip learners with leadership and management skills while allowing them to continue their professional engagements.
  • The E-MBA program offers a curriculum covering essential management disciplines such as Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Strategy. The program is delivered by IIM Bodh Gaya's experienced faculty, along with industry experts who will provide insights into contemporary business challenges.
