Haryana Launches Witness Protection Scheme

The Haryana Government rolled out 'Haryana Witness Protection Scheme 2025' to ensure the safety and security of witnesses who play a crucial role in the justice system. The primary aim of the scheme is to protect witnesses from threats, harassment, or intimidation that may arise during the course of judicial proceedings. By providing legal protection, including the possibility of relocating, changing identities, or offering other safeguards, the government seeks to strengthen the rule of law, encourage witnesses to testify without fear, and improve the overall functioning of the criminal justice system. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote transparency, accountability, and fairness within the legal process.
The scheme will be applicable to witnesses of offences punishable with death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment of seven years or more. Additionally, it will cover punishments under Sections 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, and 79 of the BNS, as well as under Sections 8, 10, 12, 14, and 15 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet Approves Schemes for Women, Youth & Development

The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet revamped the Dulari Kanya Scheme, increasing financial support for girls born in institutional deliveries. The fixed deposit amount has been raised from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 30,000, which will mature when the beneficiary turns 18. Additionally, to support girls' education, a direct benefit transfer (DBT) of Rs. 20,000 will be provided when they enroll in Class XI. This revision brings the total benefit under the scheme to Rs. 50,000. The scheme aims to encourage female education and improve the well-being of girls across the state.

Govement Extends PM-AASHA Scheme to Support Farmers until 2025-26

The Government of India extended the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) scheme until 2025-26. This move is aimed at providing better income support to farmers by ensuring that they receive remunerative prices for their produce. PM-AASHA also helps stabilise the prices of essential food commodities, benefiting both farmers and consumers alike.
The PM-AASHA scheme focuses on several key components that directly benefit farmers. One of the main components is the Price Support Scheme (PSS). This scheme allows the government to procure notified pulses, oilseeds, and copra at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) from pre-registered farmers through designated agencies like NAFED and NCCF. This ensures that farmers get a fair price for their crops, even when market prices are low.

Gujarat Launches G-SAFAL to Uplift 50,000 Underprivileged Women

The Gujarat government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, launched G-SAFAL (Gujarat Scheme for Antyodaya Families for Augmenting Livelihoods), a comprehensive initiative aimed at empowering underprivileged families, especially women, and promoting economic self-sufficiency. The scheme targets 50,000 Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) cardholder families across 25 talukas in 10 districts of Gujarat over the next five years.
Implemented by the Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company Limited (Rural Development Department), G-SAFAL focuses on livelihood creation, financial inclusion, and social development to ensure sustainable economic growth for the poorest families in the state.

West Bengal Government Introduces the "Nodi Bandhan" Scheme

West Bengal government introduced the "Nodi Bandhan" scheme as part of its 2025-26 budget. The budget allocated substantial funds for the Ghatal Masterplan, which focuses on flood prevention in West Midnapore.
Nodi Bandhan translates to "River Bond" and aims to interconnect rivers and wetlands. This will create diverse livelihood options for the communities living in these areas. The programme is designed to promote sustainable development through nature-based solutions. The initiative reflects the state's commitment to addressing environmental challenges while encouraging economic growth.
The primary objectives of Nodi Bandhan include combating natural disasters, preventing river erosion, and enhancing job opportunities. The scheme targets multiple districts affected by river erosion, particularly Murshidabad and Malda. It aims to create a resilient infrastructure that supports local economies and protects communities from the adverse effects of climate change.
