International Yoga Day

  • Every year, International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21. The day is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of people through yoga. It is an occasion to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga.
  • The United Nations established the International Day of Yoga on December 11, 2014, to raise awareness about the many benefits of yoga and to promote its as a way for a healthy lifestyle.
  • The proposal was first introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address during the opening of the 69th session of the General Assembly.
  • The theme for International Yoga Day 2024 'Yoga for Self and Society', emphasises yoga's role in fostering individual well-being and societal harmony.

World Music Day

  • Also known as 'Fête de la Musique', World Music Day is celebrated annually on June 21 to promote the universal language of music.
  • The concept of World Music Day originated in France in 1981, when Jack Lang, the French Ministry of Culture, along with music composer Maurice Fleuret, and a radio producer and music journalist, proposed the idea of dedicating a day to music. The first World Music Day or Fête de la Musique took place in Paris in 1982, with over 1,000 musicians performing throughout the city.

World Sauntering Day

  • World Sauntering Day is observed all over the world on June 19 every year.
  • In 1979, W. T. Rabe established World Sauntering Day. He was the one who started this holiday in the 1970s. This day was created in response to jogging's growing popularity. W.T. Rabe, it appears, has also devised a few sauntering norms. This act must be performed in comfortable clothing, and "some people are just born with it," according to W.T. Rabe. World Sickle Cell Awareness Day

Autistic Pride Day

  • Autistic Pride Day is observed annually on June 18, and this year.
  • Autistic Pride Day was first celebrated in 2005 by Aspies For Freedom (AFF), who chose June 18 to honour the birthday of the group's youngest member at that time. AFF modelled the celebration after the gay pride movement.
