President Murmu Presents Diamond Jubilee Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to President's Bodyguard

  • President Droupadi Murmu, in September 2025, presented the Diamond Jubilee Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the President's Bodyguard (PBG) at a ceremonial event held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, marking 75 years since the elite regiment was designated as the PBG in 1950.
  • President Murmu lauded the PBG for its professional excellence, discipline, and unwavering adherence to the finest military traditions. She noted that the honour of receiving the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner comes with a "significant responsibility" and expressed confidence that the regiment would continue to uphold its glorious legacy.
  • The President's Bodyguard is the oldest regiment of the Indian Army, tracing its origins back to 1773 when it was raised as the Governor-General's Bodyguard, later known as the Viceroy's Bodyguard. Following India's transition to a republic, the regiment was renamed the President's Bodyguard on January 27, 1950.
  • The tradition of presenting the Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the PBG began with Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, who bestowed the honour on May 14, 1957.
  • Uniquely, the PBG remains the only regiment in the Indian Army permitted to carry two 'Standards' – the President's Standard of Body Guard and the Regimental Standard of The PBG.

PM Modi Releases Stamp and Coin to Mark 100 Years of RSS

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a special commemorative postage stamp and coin to mark the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The event honoured the 100-year journey of the organisation, founded in 1925 in Nagpur by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.

India Re-elected to ICAO Council with Stronger Mandate

  • India re-elected to the Part II of the Council of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), a specialized UN agency. Part II comprises of States making the largest contribution to the provision of facilities for international civil air navigation. The election took place in September 2025, during the 42nd ICAO Assembly Session, held in Montreal conclude on 3rd October.
  • India secured more votes as compared to the 2022 elections, reflecting the growing confidence among Member States in its leadership and commitment to international civil aviation.
  • Earlier, on 2nd September 2025, the Ministry of Civil Aviation hosted a reception for Ambassadors and High Commissioners in New Delhi ahead of the 42nd ICAO assembly session. On this occasion, Minister for Civil Aviation Shri Rammohan Naidu had sought the support of Member States for India's candidature for re-election for the 2025-2028 term.

Rajeev Verma Appointed as New Chief Secretary of Delhi

  • The Ministry of Home Affairs appointed senior IAS officer Rajeev Verma as the new Chief Secretary of Delhi. He replaced Dharmendra, who superannuated in September 2025.
  • Rajeev Verma, a 1992 batch AGMUT cadre officer, served as Chief Secretary of Chandigarh from January 2024.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Inaugurates Sikkim Horticulture College Building

  • Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in September 2025, virtually inaugurated the new administrative and academic building of the College of Horticulture, Sikkim, in New Delhi. Addressing the media, Mr Singh said that this 52 crore rupees worth project will show a new direction for the students, farmers of Sikkim and the entire North-East region.
  • He added that students will not only learn crop production techniques but will also gain in-depth knowledge about processing, packaging, marketing, and export. The Minister also said that the campus will prepare the state to become a role model for a green economy.

  • In a significant step towards strengthening India's fight against misuse of telecom resources in cyber-crimes and financial frauds, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND) signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance information sharing and coordination.
