50th India International Knit Fair to be Held from October 12 to 14
The India Knit Fair Association (IKFA) will organise the 50th edition of India International Knit Fair in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu from October 12 to 14.
Organised in association with the Apparel Export Promotion Council and the Tiruppur Exporters' Association, the theme for the event this year (2023) is 'Active & sportswear, Environmental Social Governance, Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Digitalization'.
Seventy exhibitors from Tiruppur, Chennai, Coimbatore, Karur, and Gujarat will take part in the fair.
Chairman of the Association, A. Sakthivel said that the IKFA tied up with Sourcing Consultants Association, Association of Buying Agents for Textiles, Brand Sourcing Leaders, and the NIFT Alumni. Leading buyers and their representatives from Europe, US, UK and other countries have been invited for the fair.

Chakma District Council's Chief Executive,16 Others Set to Join ZPM
In a significant development, 16 members of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), including Chief Executive Member Rasik Mohan Chakma, tendered their resignations from the Mizo National Front (MNF) ahead of the assembly elections in Mizoram.
The members opted to resign from both their primary memberships and their respective roles within the MNF. They announced their intention to join the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM).

Govt. Extends Tenure of Central Board of Direct Taxes Chairman
The Union government gave a nine-month extension in service 'on contract basis' to Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairperson Nitin Gupta, the day of his scheduled retirement.
Gupta (60), a 1986-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the Income-tax department, was appointed the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) head in June 2022. He was scheduled to retire on September 30.
The CBDT is the apex policy-making body for the Income-tax department. It is headed by a chairman and can have six members who are in the rank of special secretary.
Bihar Caste Survey: OBCs, EBCs Comprise more than 63% of Population
The Bihar government released its controversial and much-awaited caste-based survey results, which revealed that Other backward castes (OBCs) and Extremely Backward castes (EBCs) constitute 63 per cent of the state's population.
The Bihar government conducted the survey from its resources. The survey provides information about the economic condition of everyone.
The survey report released by the Bihar government suggested that the state's population stood a little over 13.07 crore, of which the Extremely Backward Castes with 36 per cent is the largest followed by the OBCs which is 27.13 per cent.
The survey indicates that the majority community Hindu is 81.99 per cent while in the minority, Muslims 17.7 per cent. The other religions in the minority community are less than one per cent of the total population which includes Christians, Sikhs, and Jains.
PM Modi Launches Sankalp Saptaah in 500 Aspirational Blocks across the Country
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a unique week-long programme for aspirational blocks in the country called 'Sankalp Saptaah' at the Bharat Mandapam.
As per the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) statement, it aims to improve governance at the block level in order to enhance the quality of life of citizens. It is being implemented in 500 aspirational blocks across 329 districts in the country.
For implementing the aspirational blocks programme and to prepare an effective block development strategy, chintan shivirs were organised at village and block levels across the country, the statement said.
The 'Sankalp Saptaah' is a culmination of these chintan shivirs. 'Sankalp Saptaah' will be observed in all of the 500 aspirational blocks. Each day in 'Sankalp Saptaah', starting from October 3 till October 9, 2023, is dedicated to a specific development theme on which all aspirational blocks will work.
The themes for the first six days include 'Sampoorna Swasthya', 'Suposhit Pariwaar', 'Swachhta', 'Krishi', 'Shiksha', and 'Samridhi Diwas' while the last day of the week which is on 9 October, will be a celebration of the work conducted during the entire week, as 'Sankalp Saptaah – Samavesh Samaroh'.

Maken a two-term Lok Sabha member and three-term legislator from Delhi, succeeded former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, who served as the Congress treasurer after the passing away of Ahmed Patel in November 2020.

Uttarakhand Government Signs MoUs in London
Uttarkhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, while participating in the roadshow organised for the Global Investors Summit in London, held a meeting with many leading business houses of London.
During this, investment MoUs worth Rs. 4800 crore were signed with different companies in the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Two separate MoUs worth Rs 3800 crore were signed with Kayan Jet and investment MoUs worth Rs. 1,000 crore were signed with Usha Breco.
An investment MoU of Rs. 2100 crore for developing skiing resort in Uttarakhand and Rs 1700 crore for cable car project was signed by Kayan Jet. It was agreed to develop skiing resort projects in Auli, Dayara Bugyal and Munsiyari by Kayan Jet. Along with this, it was agreed to develop ropeway in Haridwar and other districts by Usha Braco Limited, a leader in the field of ropeway. Various 80 business houses from education, tourism, IT, health sectors of London participated in the main event organized in London.
