Delhi gets India’s first fully operational Ring Metro with Pink Line

Vir Chakra recipient Lance Havildar K. G. George passes away at 95

Lance Havildar K. G. George (retd.), a Vir Chakra awardee for his actions in the 1965 India–Pakistan War, died in Kerala at the age of 95. The official citation notes his leadership in restoring disrupted communications under heavy shelling in the Wagah Sector from 6 to 10 September 1965, including establishing a line of communication during enemy attacks on the night of 8–9 September. The Vir Chakra is India’s third-highest wartime gallantry honour. George’s family, including his grandson Remo John, confirmed the passing and said relatives in Dubai were traveling home for the funeral.
