Chandrayaan-2 Detects Solar Impact on Moon's Exosphere

  • In a major scientific achievement, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) confirmed that its Chandrayaan-2 lunar orbiter has made the first-ever direct observation of how solar activity, specifically Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs), impacts the Moon's exosphere. This landmark discovery offers unprecedented insight into lunar space weather and the dynamics of the Moon's extremely thin atmosphere.
  • Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) are massive bursts of plasma and magnetic field released from the Sun's corona, comprising mainly Hydrogen and Helium ions.
  • When these ejections reach planetary bodies, they can have significant effects—on Earth, they interfere with satellites and power grids.
  • On the Moon, which lacks both an atmosphere and a global magnetic field, the effects are even more direct and profound.

India to Have its Own Space Station by 2035

  • ISRO chairman V. Narayanan said that India will establish its own space station by 2035 and its initial modules can be installed in space starting 2027.
  • Speaking at the 14th convocation ceremony of IIT-BHU in Varanasi, he said that the Indian Space Research Organisation after ensuring soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 is now working on its next versions. Besides, there is progress on the Gaganyaan-3 mission, he added.
  • The ISRO chief also said that the organisation is moving towards building a self-sustaining and robust space eco-system.

Adani Enterprises Partners With Google for India's Largest Data Centre Campus in Visakhapatnam

  • AdaniConnex, a joint venture of Adani Enterprises, partnered with Google to establish India's largest data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This significant investment will create a major AI hub, featuring gigawatt-scale data centre operations supported by subsea cables and clean energy. The project aims to bolster India's digital infrastructure and create substantial employment opportunities.

GalaxEye to Launch World's First Multi-Sensor EO Satellite in 2026

  • In a pioneering move that cements India's place in the global space race, Indian space-tech startup GalaxEye announced it will launch Mission Drishti, the world's first multi-sensor Earth Observation (EO) satellite, in the first quarter of 2026. This launch marks the start of an ambitious plan to establish a constellation of high-resolution satellites that will transform Earth monitoring, surveillance, and analytics across sectors.
  • Mission Drishti is not only India's largest privately developed satellite at 160 kg, but also features the country's highest-resolution imaging sensor.
  • What makes this mission globally unique is the integration of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and high-resolution optical payloads on a single platform — a first in satellite technology.
  • This multi-sensor system enables the satellite to capture high-precision Earth images day or night, in any weather condition, overcoming limitations of traditional satellite observation systems.
  • Mission Drishti provides imagery with a 1.5-meter resolution, enabling detailed geospatial data analysis.
