Amazon India, AICTE Join for Skill Development of Women Tech Students

  • Amazon India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to extend its initiative, Amazon WoW (Women of the World). This programme is designed to empower and equip women students enrolled in engineering colleges across India with essential skills to thrive in the technology industry.
  • This programme is open to any women student who is currently pursuing a four-year BTech/BE or two-year MCA, M.Tech/ME programme or five year dual degree.
  • The programme offers workshops on coding, problem-solving, tech interviews, and data structures and algorithms, equipping female students in their application and selection processes. Through Amazon WoW, over 900 women have secured internships or full-time opportunities at Amazon.

Italy's Istituto Marangoni Explores India Campus under New UGC Rules

  • Ranked among the world's top 100 art and design institutes, Italy's Istituto Marangoni, boasting alumni such as Franco Moschino, founder of the Italian fashion brand Moschino, and designer Rahul Mishra, the first Indian to win the Woolmark Prize, is likely to apply under the new regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish a branch campus in India.
  • Marangoni already operates independent branch campuses in Milan, Paris, London, and Shanghai. Additionally, it has a presence in India through a vocational institute in Mumbai; however, it only offers certificate courses.

Assam Government Approves Merger of SEBA and AHSEC

IIT Madras Partners with SRIHER to Offer MD-PhD Dual Degree

NCERT to Change Classes 6 to 12 Social Science Syllabus

  • India's National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) initiated a significant overhaul in school education. A 35-member committee, chaired by Michel Danino, was established under the National Syllabus and Teaching Learning Material Committee (NSTC).
  • This committee is dedicated to reshaping the Social Science syllabus for Classes 6 to 12.
  • The committee comprises influential members like Sanjeev Sanyal, Banabina Brahma, MD Srinivas, and others from diverse educational and research backgrounds.
  • Tasked with developing syllabi and teaching materials for history, geography, political science, sociology, and psychology, the committee aligns its goals with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) for school education.
