Nagaland's Forest Project Recognised with SKOCH Award
The Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) was honoured with the SKOCH Award 2024, a prestigious recognition that celebrates outstanding contributions to national development. The award was presented during the 100th SKOCH Summit held at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. Ango Konyak, Deputy Project Director of NFMP, and Wennyei Konyak, Resident Commissioner of Nagaland House in New Delhi, accepted the award on behalf of the Department of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (DEFCC), Government of Nagaland (GoN). The project, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is focused on improving forest ecosystems, rehabilitating jhum (shifting cultivation) areas, and enhancing livelihoods through sustainable practices.
The NFMP is a significant initiative with a 10-year timeline, aiming to conserve forests and uplift communities through targeted interventions. The project spans 185 villages across 11 districts in Nagaland and covers an area of over 79,000 hectares. The core goal is to enhance forest management, promote environmental conservation, and generate sustainable livelihoods in rural areas, with the formation of self-help groups being a key component of the project.

BAFTA Awards 2025: Full Winners List Unveiled!
The 78th BAFTA Awards celebrated the finest achievements in cinema, with Conclave and The Brutalist emerging as the biggest winners of the night, each securing four awards. The French musical crime drama Emilia Pérez continued its dominance, winning Best Film Not in the English Language, beating Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine As Light, marking its third major loss to Emilia Pérez this year.
Meanwhile, director Brady Corbet (The Brutalist) and lead actor Adrien Brody (The Brutalist) secured top honours. The awards also saw Dune: Part Two winning in technical categories, while Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl took home Best Animated Film.

'Conclave' Named Best Film at BAFTAs
Papal selection thriller "Conclave" and period drama "The Brutalist" were the big winners at the BAFTA Film Awards, winning four prizes each.
"Conclave", which had led nominations with 12 nods, won the most coveted award, best film, as well as outstanding British film, best adapted screenplay and best editing.
"The Brutalist", a three-and-a-half hour tale about a Hungarian immigrant architect trying to rebuild his life in the United States post-World War Two, had also been considered a frontrunner for best film. It won best director for Brady Corbet and best actor for its star, Adrien Brody.
