President of India Confers National Geoscience Awards - 2022

The President of India Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious National Geoscience Awards- 2022 (NGA) of the Ministry of Mines at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. Minister of Coal, Mines & Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi and Minister of State for Coal, Mines & Railways Raosaheb Patil Danve and senior functionaries of the Ministry of Mines, Geological Survey of India graced the occasion.
Twenty-two Geoscientists including working professionals and academicians from across the country received the awards grouped under three categories namely one National Geoscience Award for Life Time Achievement, one National Young Geoscientist Award and eight National Geoscience Awards in various fields of geosciences.
The National Geoscience Award for Lifetime Achievement was conferred upon Om Narain Bhargava, well known for his pioneering work in the Himalayas spanning over the last four decades. The National Young Geoscientist Award was presented to Amiya Kumar Samal, Assistant Professor of Banaras Hindu University who has made significant contribution in understanding the variation of sub-continental lithospheric mantle (SCLM) below different archean cratons of the Indian shield.
Instituted in 1966, the National Geoscience Awards (NGA) is a symbol of recognition and appreciation for exceptional individuals and organizations that have demonstrated excellence, dedication and innovation in the realm of Geosciences. The awards are presented in the field of Mineral Discovery and Exploration, Basic Geosciences, Applied Geosciences and Mining, Mineral Beneficiation and Sustainable Mineral Development.

Anurag Thakur Confers 8th and 9th Community Radio Awards

The Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur presented the 8th and 9th National Community Radio Awards during the Inaugural Session of two-day Regional Community Radio Sammelon held at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in New Delhi.

Italy Honours Indian Troops' Contribution during Second World War

Remembering the supreme sacrifices of the Indian Soldiers, the Commune of Monotone (in Italy) and Italian Military historians unveiled 'V.C Yeshwant Ghadge Sundial Memorial' at Montone (Perugia, Italy) as a tribute to the Indian troops who fought during Italian Campaign during the Second World War. They also honoured Naik Yeshwant Ghadge, the Victoria Cross, who was killed in action fighting on the heights of Upper Tiber Valley. Neena Malhotra, Ambassador of India in Italy and the Indian Defence Attaché represented India during the ceremony.
Indian Soldiers played a central role in the Italian Campaign during the Second World War, wherein more than 50,000 Indian Army soldiers from the 4th, 8th and 10th Divisions took part. Out of the 20 Victoria Crosses awarded in Italy, six were won by Indian soldiers. Indian soldiers suffered 23,722 casualties, of which 5,782 Indian soldiers made the supreme sacrifice, and are commemorated in the 40 Commonwealth War Graves spread all over Italy.

IIT Professor Wins Global Recognition with Eni Award for Clean Water Innovations

Indian scientist Professor Thalappil Pradeep from IIT Madras was honoured with the esteemed Eni Award for his groundbreaking research in energy and environment. The award recognises his innovative work in providing affordable clean water using advanced nanoscale materials.
The Eni Award is highly regarded globally, with previous recipients including renowned Nobel laureates and distinguished scientists. The selection committee, which includes Nobel laureates, ensures that only exceptional individuals receive this prestigious recognition.
Established in 2007, the award aims to foster radical breakthroughs in energy efficiency, renewables, decarbonisation, and environmental preservation. It serves as a platform to encourage and inspire the next generation of researchers to address the pressing challenges in energy and environmental sustainability.
Professor Pradeep's remarkable contributions in the field of nanotechnology and sustainable water purification have earned him this coveted honour.

SJVN Bags 1st Prize in Swachhta Pakhwada Awards 2023 by MoP

The Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) was conferred with the first prize at the prestigious Swachhta Pakhwada Award - 2023 by the Union Ministry of Power. SJVN chairman Nand Lal Sharma received the prize from the Union Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal in New Delhi.
Sharma said that the Swachhta Pakhwada Awards were conferred by the Union Ministry of Power to honour the public sector undertakings (PSUs) in the power sector for their exemplary performance during the 'Swachhta Pakhwada' from May 16 to 31 every year. The PSUs were evaluated on the basis of the initiatives undertaken to create awareness regarding the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan' among the masses.
The SJVN bagged the first prize while the PGCIL and PFC stood second and third, respectively. The SJVN had secured the top spot last year as well.

NTPC Wins ET HR World Future Skills Awards 2023

NTPC received the prestigious Economic Times (ET) HR World Future Skills Awards 2023 for 'Best use of AI/AR/VR in Learning and Upskilling' and 'Best Advance in Creating an Extended Enterprise Learning Programme'. Director (HR), NTPC, Dillip Kumar Patel received the awards on behalf of NTPC at a programme held in Gurugram.
These awards bear testimony to NTPC's focus on the adoption of cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality (VR) in Learning and Development (L&D). They reflect NTPC's commitment to develop the competency level of its employees as well as outsourced workers through L&D initiatives such as iGuru which includes training based on Virtual Reality (VR). In addition, NTPC has also introduced several other innovative training initiatives such as GPiLearn, FutureSkills courses and Samarth modules.

President of India Present the 'Bhoomi Samman' 2023

The President of India Droupadi Murmu bestowed the prestigious 'Bhoomi Samman' awards at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The awards were presented to 9 State Secretaries and 68 District Collectors, along with their teams, who demonstrated exceptional achievements in implementing the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) – a crucial component of governance.

For the first time in the last 75 years, they received the 'Bhoomi Samman' for their outstanding performance.
The 'Bhoomi Samman' Scheme exemplifies the principles of cooperative federalism and trust between the central and state governments. The grading system for the awards is based on the performance reports and inputs provided by the states and union territories, fostering a strong partnership in the computerization and digitization of land records.
