CRPF Raising Day

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), observed its 85th Raising Day on 27th of July 2023. The day celebrates the immense and unparalleled contribution of the force in upholding the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the nation. CRPF is India's largest Central Armed Police Force, which operates under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
CRPF came into existence as the 'Crown Representative's Police' on 27th of July 1939. After Independence, it became the Central Reserve Police Force on the enactment of the 'CRPF Act' on December 28, 1949, which constituted CRPF as an armed force of the Union.
After Independence, CRPF contingents were tasked to check infiltration and trans-border crimes in Kutch, Rajasthan, and Sindh borders. They were, subsequently, deployed on the Pakistan border in Jammu & Kashmir following Pakistan's infiltration.
During the 1962 Indo-China war, the force once again assisted the Indian Army in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Further, in the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars, CRPF provided shoulder-to-shoulder support to the Indian Army, both on the Western and Eastern borders.
CPRF was the first paramilitary force in India, which sent its forces in the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions. For the first time, 13 companies of CRPF including a detachment of women were airlifted to join the Indian Peacekeeping Force in Sri Lanka to fight the militant cadres.

National Refreshment Day

National Refreshment Day is observed on the fourth Thursday of July every year to remind people that they can take out time from their busy schedules and enjoy themselves. In 2023, it was observed on July 27.
The history of the National Refreshment Day dates back to 2015 when Traveller Beer (beer company) celebrated this day by announcing a new variety of beer in the market. The company created the first National Refreshment Day to make customers relish by serving them a new variety of beer.
The American craft beer company, based in Burlington, Vermont, was founded in 2012 and is known for producing creative beer products by mixing European shandy and American craft beer. The company decided to celebrate National Refreshment Day on the fourth Thursday of July.
Since then, people living in the northern hemisphere started observing National Refreshment Day as temperatures continue to go up in the region at this time of the year. It becomes necessary to de-stress and detoxify oneself on any hot day by enjoying refreshing drinks.

International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem

The International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem is observed annually on July 26. Its purpose is to increase global understanding of the significance of mangrove ecosystems as distinct, precious, and delicate environments. The day also seeks to advocate for sustainable practices in managing, safeguarding, and utilizing these ecosystems.
The International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, observed on July 26, was established by UNESCO during their General Conference in 2015 to create awareness about the critical value of mangrove ecosystems. The main objective of this day is to promote the preservation and sustainable development of mangrove forests.

Kargil Vijay Diwas

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated all across the country on July 26 every year. The day commemorates the victory of the Indian armed forces in the Kargil War fought against Pakistan. The day is observed to pay tribute and to honour the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers in the war of 1999. The operation that took place during the war is also known as Operation Vijay.
The year 2023, marked the 24th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The armed conflict between Pakistan and India started after the Pakistani troops intruded into the Indian territory in the Kargil district of then Jammu and Kashmir (now in Ladakh UT). The Kargil War continued from May to July 1999.
Indian Army launched 'Operation Vijay' after the first infiltration was reported by local shepherds on May 3, 1999. The target of Operation Vijay was to recapture the Indian territory along the LoC, which was occupied by the Pakistani infiltrators. Indian Air Force launched the airstrike on May 26 under operation Safed Sagar to support the Indian Army.
On July 26, 1999, Indian Army declared Operation Vijay a success after recapturing all the military posts in Kargil that were taken over by Pakistani infiltrators.

World Embryologist Day

World Embryologist Day or World IVF Day is celebrated annually on July 25. The Day is observed to create awareness among people about Embryologists and the process of Invitro fertilisation (IVF).
The history of World IVF or Embryologist Day dates back to July 25, 1978 when the first baby named Louise Joy Brown was born through the process of Invitro fertilisation (IVF). July 25 is therefore dedicated to the birth anniversary of Louise Joy Brown.
The significance of World Embryologist Day is to educate people about the IVF procedure and how it helps childless couples. This day encourages people to take up the IVF option if they are facing difficulty in conceiving a child.

National Thermal Engineer Day

Every year July 24 is observed as National Thermal Engineers Day to celebrate the contribution of thermal engineers to society. Thermal energy is defined as the energy contained inside a system that manages its temperature.
The day was established in 2014 by Advanced Thermal Solutions Inc (ATS), a US-based private company working in the area of thermal energy regulation and electronic packaging solutions. The day was initiated by ATS to mark the hard work of the thermal engineers along with the software and electronic industries where the thermal engineer's work is neglected.

Income Tax Day or Aaykar Diwas

The Income Tax department observes July 24 every year as Income Tax Day or 'Aaykar Diwas', to commemorate the introduction of provision of income tax in the country. This year (22023) is the 163rd anniversary of Income Tax Day.
On July 24, 1860, Sir James Wilson introduced income tax for the first time in India. Wilson did this to compensate for the losses suffered by the British regime during the first war of independence in 1857. 'Aaykar Diwas' was celebrated for the first time on July 24, 2010, to mark 150 years of income tax in India.
Since income tax was first levied as a duty in the year 1860 and the authority to levy that duty came into force on July 24 of that year, it was proposed to celebrate this day as Income Tax Investiture Day.
Headquartered in New Delhi, the Income Tax department is responsible for direct tax collection for the Government of India. It functions under the Department of Revenue in the Ministry of finance, and is headed by an apex body called the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

National Broadcasting Day

On July 23, India commemorates National Broadcasting Day to honour the profound influence of radio in our lives. This significant day marks the inception of India's first-ever radio broadcast, known as 'All India Radio (AIR)'. To celebrate this occasion, All India Radio (AIR) organized a symposium in New Delhi focused on discussing the role of broadcasting in shaping a modern India and exploring new mediums of communication.
Radio broadcasting in India commenced as private initiatives in 1923 and 1924, with the establishment of radio clubs in Bombay, Calcutta, and Madras (now Chennai). However, due to financial constraints, these stations had to shut down.
Subsequently, a Broadcasting Service was introduced on an experimental basis in July 1927 in Bombay and a month later in Calcutta, through an agreement between the Government of India and a private company called the Indian Broadcasting Company Ltd.
In response to public outcry over the closure of the Indian Broadcasting Company, the Government took charge of broadcasting on April 1, 1930, renaming it the Indian State Broadcasting Service (ISBS). Initially experimental, it became permanently under government control in 1932.
A new radio station was established in Delhi in 1936. On June 8 of the same year, the Indian Broadcasting Service was rebranded as All India Radio (AIR), with a fresh signature tune. The Delhi station eventually grew into the core of national-level broadcasting.

National Parents' Day (Fourth Sunday in July)

National Parents' Day in celebrated on the fourth Sunday in July every year (July 23 in 2023).
The day is marked to appreciate the efforts of parents and their lifelong sacrifice.
National Parents' Day is celebrated in many different countries all over the world. It was proclaimed an official day by the United Nations, yet it has also been honoured in the United States ever since 1994. This is when it was signed into law by President Bill Clinton. The day was established as one for recognizing, supporting, and uplifting the role of parents when it comes to raising children around the world. It was Trent Lott, a Republican Senator, who actually introduced the bill.
